My Monza story

When I was 17 I bought 1978 Monza from a Marine
Captain that dropped a balanced and bluprinted 350/375HP
LT1 out of a wrecked Corvette Stingray. Cut and
lowered the springs, put on Koni shocks, Centerline rims,
Goodyears, B&M starshifter, stock posi, Hooker Headers,
additional fuel pump, racing cam, intake, removed the rear
seats, dual exhaust came out before the rear
wheels.
How fast was it? Nothing could touch it, it ran
circles around everything, it would chirp 2nd with
moderate acceleration and lay a quick posi strip when I
punched it.
How fast would it go, okay, I swear I am
not maing this up, the speedometer was broken, I
raced my buddy in his Camaro that did a easy 140, I
passed him on a long road one day like he was sitting
still...he had his 140 speedo buried.
The guy I sold it
to got arrested the first night he owned it and
spent a week in jail, clocked at 160.
I did end up
getting a 79 with a 4 cyl, totalled it though.
So the
story goes my old Monza is in a barn in North
Carolina.
