Ian, a place near me has the seals for 3.31
each.
You say they can be difficult to replace? I dont
have any 'pullers'.
A local shop said they would
do it if I broght them the tranny for a 125
bucks, but they said it may not be just the front seal, and
they mentioned a few other items (sounds like they'd
get it apart and tell me I need a full rebuild),which
probably wouldnt hurt to do, but the thing still works and
thats all i need right now.(very little $$)

With the tranny out of the car,and the converter
pulled out of the tranny it will take you all of 30
seconds to remove each seal.It is very simple to do.If
you need to replace the front pump oring stand the
tranny on end, remove the pump bolts and pry out the pump
with a couple of small screw drivers about 1/2
inch.Replace the large o-ring and slide the pump back into the
housing.Dont let any dirt get into the tranny when doing
this. Also plug the tailshaft with a used yoke to keep the
fluid in the tranny when you stand it on end.I used
bungy cord and lashed the tranny to my dolly so it
would stand up.Its not hard to do.The seals themselves
are so simple to replace you wont believe it.The 2
seals and the o-ring can be purchased at a local tranny
shop under 10 bucks.Good luck dude! Bill in Az...

If you replace the oring I would recomend a small
amount of tranny fluid be used to lubricate it so it
will pop back down into the tranny case without any
friction which could damage the o-ring. Drop me a line if
you have any questions.Ive done it a few times
myself.Dont pay that shop unless you have money to blow.Do it
yourself and spend the money you save on a nice dinner on
the town!;):):):)Bill

Yep! those tips will do the trick, your only
concern is the pump bushing, if it's worn badly seals
won't help, look inside the input shaft when you remove
the torque converter to see if the bushing is scored
and look at the torque converter hub to make sure
it's smooth. If the bushing still looks uniform heck
it's worth it to take a chance with the
seals.
Another thing to check and see if the back side of the
torque converter is damp with fluid if it is that means
it's probably the the front seal and or pump bushing,
has the tranny been sitting for a long time? Ian

Thanks IAN.
Before I even try this ,Im going
to try to pull the pan and filter from the trans
with no forward gear, I have been told that If the
filter is clogged, that would mean low pressure, and that
would equal, no forward gears. Although im not sure how
reverse would work so well, but what the heck its worth a
shot.

Wow Billy, that was quite a weekend
huh.lol.

I have my red spyder moved to storage, and the grey
car is in the garage now. So it looks like I have a
day to get under there and pull the pan & filter out.
