Transmition diagnosis

I pulled the pan off my 231 V6 tranny today. It
has only had reverse for some time now.

The
fluid dosent smell that bad, but it was very dark. and
there was a pile of crud at the bottom of the pan. In
the crud there appears to be some fragments of disc
material,from the shape of 2 pieces. its not much of a pile, So
I'm wondering if its worth my time to get another
filter,and some fluid,and see if forward gears come back.

Marco, is a TH 350 or a TH 200?
The filters in
these trannys are not much more than a sceen and are
reusable provided that you can clean it up. If it were me
I would clean your filter as best as you can and re
use and see what happens at least it won't cost much
to find out the final verdict no sense in thowing
good money after bad. That sounds like clutch material
in the pan if that's so it's most likly in the valve
body as well, but what the heck it's worth a try, you
might get lucky. Let us know what happens. Ian

Too, late I already wasted my cash, 15
bucks.

I put the new filter in -re upped the
oil...(store tried to sell me a full case, then 6 quarts...it
only needs 3-4 pints!)

any how, got it back
together this morning and still only reverse, no drive
whatsoever.

Its not so bad tho because the this means the car
will get a V8.
