The red spyder drives...

I drove my red spyder to storage the other
day..
I cant believe how smooth and strong that 305
is!
It has this sound like cold water pipes, when I'm
cruising at speed. like a
hiss...I always thought it
was the Holley600 that was on it, but now its
a
2bbl,and it still does it. Anyhow it sounds really
cool...like a snake,lol.

The car is so fun to
drive.
Here is the combo;
A 305 bored .030

mexican made ('metal levee') flat top pistons.

14022601 heads from a 305 HO monte carlo ss (1.84 intake
valve)
Rochester 2bbl,on factory manifold with EGR, and
cannister hooked up. The
2bbl may be a larger cfm than
factory, I dont know its origins.
Stock exhaust with a
stock catalytic converter,and reproduction dual
outlet
muffler.
The initial timing is set to near factory specs
and factory weights are in
the distributor.

factory 4spd ,3.08 posi
195/70/13 tires.

The
way this thing pulls from 2000 to 4500 makes me smile
every time, and
its not loud at all.
I drove it
about 20 miles...in rush hour traffic no less. It ran
perfect for not being driven any great distance in 2
years.
Its very civilized.
just thought I'd share.

It's a beauty no question! when they're that
pretty and that stock you kinda have to leave it that
way, I find that hard to do sometimes *Grin*
but
with your other projects atleast you have something to
focus on. Any other plans for the red one?
If you
wanted to you could put a factory aluminum intake, Q Jet
and air cleaner off a third Gen. Camaro the air inlet
is on the same side as the Monza, definately gives
you more punch without taking away to much
authenticity of the car. Ian

At one time I had a performer intake and a Holley
600cfm double pumper...
The car was the fastets
monza I've had with this combo. I needed to upgrade the
fuel pump,I could out run its ability to fill the
bowls.
Then I realized I needed to preserve the car.
