Nice deal.
The best way to run the
exhaust?
Well, if you can find a shop that will run duals
all the way to the back that shops expirienced tech
should be able to plumb that thing up away from the
ground and all the way to the back...

You can
fit a cat under both front seats, and 2 mufflers
mounted vertically side by side, will fit on the stock
location.
there should be a few ways to get both pipes over
the rear axle and to the mufflers.

2 and 1/2
inch pipes should fit and be plenty for your motor.

If you have to use 1 cat converter, you could
still run dual 2 and 1/4 inch pipes from the cat on
back..they will both fit over the axle on the same side.

Ive done it homeade style by clamping 2 factry
exhaust 'over the axle' pipes together.
It worked
great. And didnt cost a ton.

If you want to run true duals with the mufflers
located under the back seat you'll have to dimple the
floor pan where you put your heels sitting in the back
seat, I used a ball peen hammer and a dolly to do this
and made lots more room for a muffler with a larger
case, nicest thing is you can't notice the dimple
inside the car..... I did'nt remove the carpet to do
this.
Alot of exhaust shops won't touch these exhaust mods
because they can't move the muffler forward far enough so
they can bend a tail pipe to clear the axel tube, if
you dimple the floor pan this will give you the
clearance you need.
Right now I'm running factory
exhaust manifolds, 2" true duals all the way back, balance
tube, no cats. As for tail pipes I've tried two
configurations, the style I have now are aimed out the side like
the factory Buick GN's and another way was to aime
the exhaust to the ground behind the back wheels like
alot of the early camaro's. My next system will use
exhaust manifolds off an L69 305 HO which has a 2 1/4"
head pipe so I can run 2 1/4" exhaust tubing all the
way back.
It's my understanding the California
smog laws makes a system like this tough to get away
with.
Good luck. Ian
