i have a 1977 monza mirage that i understand is
one of 3 made. this is what i have been told in my
research. can anyone, or do you know anyone that can
confirm this for me? the car is in its original state,
less the engine. that i'm still hunting down, hopfully
its still on this earth. the car came from the
factory with a four cylinder and still has all the canada
stickers in the door jams. it has absolutly no rust, nor
has it ever. someone was going to make it a v8, it
still has the trans in it. and the emergency brake
still works like new! the car was bought in colorado by
a friend before i got it. the v.i.n is
1r07b72145592. any info, input would be great! thank you!

canadian...i have not heard of too many canandian mirage, and
the vintage number is definetely different on yours
than others i have seen....well, i have to say this,
its the second 4 cylinder mirage i have heard
of....you are right...it is extremely rare... karl

my brother is coming over tonight with his
digital camera. i will clean off the snow and take a few
pic's. i am in the chicago area and i hate to leave it
outside but i'm always using my garage for one thing or
another. it came with all the stuff to make it a v8, so
i'm hoping to find the person who removed the four
banger, maybe, just maybe, its under his work bench!

your car through your friend who sold it to you, and
have wondered what ever happened to it. Guess you
decided to keep it?
Karl is right, there is only
one other 4cyl Mirage we've discovered, and it was in
NY a few months back. Unfortunately, it was "not"
worth salvaging and was pretty much scrapped for parts.
(the Mirage panels, and other key parts were taken
off) Also, if you're looking for replacement Mirage
panels, I still have a couple extra complete sets of them
here in my garage. I'm not that far away from you
(Danville, IL) and can deliver them the next time I'm up
your way. I also have lots of other Monza V8 swap
parts, etc. in case you're wanting to V8 your car, but
it sounds like you may want to put the 140ci motor
back in. In that case, any '77 140ci motor will do.
(just to get the correct casting numbers, in case they
changed slightly from one year to the next) There was
nothing unique about the 140ci 4cyl in the Mirage, so
getting a donor engine from any '77 Monza would work
fine.
When you get your pics taken, let us see them....
also, www.monzamirage.com has a registry that you could
register your car with to help in keeping track of what
few Mirages there are left. (Karl, I know what your
opinion is of that, but I'm "neutral" here... I care
about the cars themselves and not anyone's opinion of
someone else. 'Nuff said.)

we took the pic's last nite and it was getting
dark out, so my bro took them home to inhance them. we
took pics of everything except underneath, because of
the snow. i will be getting them back today and i
will post them. took some pics of another v8 monza we

rethinking things over. the car is clean enough to eat off
underneath, so i didn't understand why he didn't take it.
