Cutting rear-end brackets off

Hi guys, got a question. I have a S-10 rear for
my '72 vega, But I don't know what the best way to
cut the brackets off of the vega rear. I really want
to take the least amount of metal off, but the only
thing I can think of is carefully using a 4" grinder or
a small pneumatic one. Can anybody share with me
how they did this, or give me any options. I would
rather not torch them, because I am not good at it, and
I don't have acess to a plasma cutter.

Depending on your situation, you may want to
check out Bob Gumm's V8 Monza site, he's added a
catalog section. Don Hardy offers a complete set of
brackets, and thier less expensive through Gumm's site. You
can order right through his site. Hope this helps you
