I could really use some assistance. I have a 1979
Monza Spyder that has 4-bolt axles. I need to know
which rear end(s) are safe to use to convert from
4-bolt to 5-bolt. Also, if anyone happens to know
someone in the Spartanburg, SC area who can cut down rear
ends CHEAP, I would greatly appreciate any information
given for this or the other.
thanks,

Paul
P.S. if anyone comes across this information I have
asked for, please, PLEASE e-mail me at:

Paul, if it's CHEAP you're looking for, you don't
have to swap the entire rear axle to do your 5-lug
conversion. All you need is the 5-lug axles and drums from an
'82-'93 2WD S10, S15, or Blazer. The 2WD's between these
years are the same 26 spline fitting and will slide
right into your existing Monza axle. They are a 1/16"
shorter than the Monza axles however, so you may have to
scribe a line around backing plate and grind 1/16" off
so the S10 drums don't rub, or you can simply place
a 1/16" spacer on the axle to keep it out away from
the backing plates. All of this info on how to do
this can be found on Mr. Gumm's website at
<a href=http://www.datasys.net/~dagumm/ target=new>http://www.datasys.net/~dagumm/</a> and look at the "V8 Monza-Vega FAQS" section
under "5-lug rear axle upgrade". Also, similar info can
be found at the Hbody FAQ at
<a href=http://www.cs.unc.edu/~brownde/cars/hbodyfaq.txt target=new>http://www.cs.unc.edu/~brownde/cars/hbodyfaq.txt</a>

Good luck!

Ken

P.S. S10 front spindles,
rotors, and calipers can be used as well to upgrade your
front wheels to 5-lug.
