I found that there is NO voltage at all going to
that little brown wire that goes to the alt. No
voltage even when car is running....I traced the wire to
the fuse box, anyone know where the other end of that
wire is? Ignition switch? Can I just find a wire that
has +12V on the "on" position and use it?

Your alternator i (or one)terminal needs 12 volts
to turn on the alt. The 2 term goes to the output
with the battery term. There is nothing else you need
to do. Just dont go directly from the coil because
it will backfeed and you won't be able to shut the
motor down.
