Manual or Automatic = 200-4R

I have a pro-touring 75 Vega that I am running a
200-4R in behind a ZZ430. I had the trans built with a
shift kit and upgraded internals and the torque
converter has been beefed up to handle the power. I am
running 3.00 gears so the car has LONG LEGS (in spite of
the 14 inch tires). It is a ball to drive. I have a
B&M Mega Shifter installed that I can do the bang
shifting thing if I feel like it, and still do the
automatic shift thing in stop and go traffic. The
transmission fits where a Turbo 350 lives. There is the added
benefit of overdrive for those high speed tours. My daily
driver is a stock 4 speed vega that I still ROW, but I
personally prefer the OD automatic.

I still prefer the automatic over the manual. I
get the same thrill slammen gears with my auto. I
installed a shiftkit and rather than drilling the seperator
plate out with the supplied 3/16 drill bit, I decided
to round up and used a 1/4 inch drill bit. It barks
the tires plenty good for me yet I can stick it in
"D" for go and not have to worry about shifting when
I don't want to.

OK, transmission experts, I need your help. Is
there any reason a 4L60-E wouldn't fit under my '76
Vega wagon with the big trans tunnel? Will I be able
to use the short tail shaft fitted for the torque
arm (3-link) suspension with that transmission? I
would like to put it behind '96 LT-1 I bought last
week, and the consensus from the computer motor guys is
"you can make the engine run with any trans, but the
easiest and best way is to duplicate the stock setup".

Thanks
Dave

Yep,
it will fit,
use the tail housing
form a th-350 equiped monza
or vega,
You`ll
have to cut the output shaft around 1 inch ( there`s a
groove in the shaft where you need to cut)
you might
also have to drill a hole in the ouput shaft to accept
the speedometer driving gear
retaining clip (some
4l60e have it some don`t)

I know it works
because i usea th-700 in my Spyder

BTW you need to
cut the torque arm and the driveshaft, a new
crossmember must be made too
