targa top vega

has anybody else ever heard of this concept car?
years ago when i was a little tyke, this guy who had a
V-8 vega told me somewhere he had seen pictures of a
targa top vega. it was made from a 71-73 vega
coupe(with trunk)the roof cut off and fabricated like a
Lotus,Corvette type roof with the fins. guess it looked killer.
just wondering if anyone else was fortunate enough to
see. i would like to see too.

I've never heard of a targa top "Vega", but maybe
your friend was referring to a Sunbird concept car
that was similar to that. Pontiac unveiled a Sunbird
Cloth Top concept car with a "half-top roof" at the
1978 Detroit Auto Show. The car had a cloth top that
slid back, and a rear window that dropped out of sight
for a 'convertible feel'. It also had the louvered
rear quarter windows that sound similar to what your
friend described. I don't have a photo of the car,
however I do have a concept pencil sketch of the car. If
you can provide any more info on the targa top "Vega"
you've heard of, let us know. I'd be interested in
investigating it. Thanks.
