came whit a
place to mount the torque arm
but
GOOD LUCK to find them
they were installed on
all
the 1988 trans am GTA pace cars
(they had the
3.8 turbo GN engine
and trans)

BTW,

the th-700 use the same yoke
then the th-350
th-200, th-200r4
th-250 and some 4 and 5 speeds
trans

I think i have a pics of my rear end
and a
pic of my tranny crossmember

one other reason to use the
th-700 is the
ability to use
the monza th-350 tailhousing
it`s
a whole lot simplier to
mount the torque
arm
Simply put the housing on the th-700
cut and reweld
the torque arm
and voila! no need to fabricate a

torque arm mount

No, I
mean from a late 80's camaro or firebird. With the
IMSA panels, this rear end is a perfect width, once
the brackets are rewelded to the rear. I wanted this
one

Curious now, why did you assume an older
as opposed to newer?

He said that because 1981 and older
camaros with 10-bolts came with an 8.5" ring gear while
1982 and later have a 7.5" ring gear. The older 8.5s
are much stronger as they are retty close to the
12-bolts, I think, 8.675".

p.s. The one I have will be fine. Not enough power to
worry about and it won't see severe duty that would
threaten it. And if it does, parts are plentiful. *shrug*

find a
dana 44 whit disc brakes

GM did a couple of
camaro whit the
dana and disc brakes

But i
warned you.......
they are RARE
just like an
th-200r4
whit a torque arm mount

BTW,
older camaro an firebird

then newer ones
(-1/16)
The problem is that they don`t
have the torque
arm mounting pad
but do like me......
make
your own...
That way you won`t have to adapt

the camaro arm to your car

Your idea sounds good, but I
already have the other rear end, it is ALMOST done being
modified for mounting, and the price was right.


This rear end should hold up fine, and the fact that
it has disc brakes (with a LOT of meat still on them
- virtually a bolt in!) is a bonus. The way I
figure it, worst case scenario, *IF* the rear end brakes
and I replace the pieces with stronger aftermarket
units, which are commonly avalailable for late 80's
camaro units.

A few years ago I seen advertised in a buick
grand national magazine a torque arm kit that had a
special bracket made for under the car it was advertised
as better than attaching to the transmission because
it was stronger.
