Well the hooker kit is ok but I have had better
luck in a form of mount that resembles the hooker
stuff but instead goes under the water pump.
I can
dig up the plans if you want I made mine out of 3/16
plate steel and they work great with a short water pump
and single groove pulley( I have a manual vega box on
this car)but if you ordered the double groove pulleys
from Mr.Gasket and use a power steering pump from a
late 80's sunbird with remote resivoir yuo could keep
the PS.
Oh and if you dont have a monza v8 pan
please use one from milodon or moroso(350 and down wont
clear 400 stroke) oil pan or you will have to jack the
motor up in the bay. useing the thm350 tranny I added a
tranny mount from Auto Zone for a 70 monte carlo with
manual trans (manual mount is same as auto but solid
rubber dont remember #)
I used the headman header
setup and have great access to spark plugs (except when
its 0 degrees out side I flooded out my bosch
platinum 4's ouch at 6 bucks apiece but they work great)my
car has an old Edelbrock Scorpion 1 intake 600
competition AFB and standard K&N 14x3 drop base air cleaner
and clears hood with engine 1 and 1/2 inches higher
than with monza pan.
I also used an s/10 rearend
and cut the springs down to 12 inch center of spring
eye to axle centering bolt and used a die grinder to
open up the bolt holes and did away with the torque
arm oh and you will need to wedge or readjust pinion
angle on s/10 rears to 2 to 4 dgrees down pinion
angle. And with a short tail th350 your drive shaft shound
be about 45 to 46 inches long but measure before
ordering, and use same ends and tubing size of s/10 rear and
add a conversion joint on frt if you dont have big
yoke.
you will need an adj prportioning valve to decrease
the psi to rear brakes or install s/10 spindals in
front w/bob gumm's adapters and use Rabestos brute
stope pads or peformance friction pads and then you
will stop on a dime and hand back 9 cents change and
stay with your master cyl and stock prpotioning valve
just adj one to cut back psi and parking cables should
work since you already have big brakes (76 and up use
same size front calipers as s/10 but s/10 rear wheel
cyl are a tad too big and will lock in wet
conditions.
Well I know this was long but if ya got any questions
or want my plans for mounts write me thru here or
email me at Xanadu4024@aol.com
