Well as you all forget i would try any 10 bolt HM
axle with the 242/245 brake shoe and then either order
drums or find a 76 and up and swipe all the stuff and
if you want redrill axles and drums for better wheel
selection.
OR open up the holes in controlarm mounts at frame,
measure from center of frame bolt hole to center of axle
tube with car at ride height, take a set of s10
springs cut about 4 inches longer then drill that pesky
centering hole reuse the spring bolt if possible, reuse the
spring bolt that heald springs in s10 open up brake hose
bracket hole and install hose.
check your drive shaft
length before picking up a conversion joint.you will
have to use 76 up master cyl and proportioning valve.I
have found that the s10 brakes are kind of aggressive
but fell that when i up grade to s 10 spindles the
better pads i have for front(Raybestos Brute Stop #
mkd154s) all will be ok if not get adj prop valve from
stainless steel brakes inc.Only thing to worry about with
this is pinion angle and s 10 axle spring pads are not
fully welded and should be able to be moved with
careful grinding and rewelding of spring pads or use
competition enginerring set. use any where from 1.2 degress
down to 4.5 deg down at pinion. OH and i just hacked
off my old spring pads from my 6.5 in axle from my 75
and welded it on and just notched them to clear the u
bolts.toss the torque arm and pan hard bar and if your a
welder or have abuddy who is one clean up inside wheel
well and weld the plate on outside of control arm(on
the car) to the wheel well and box it together and
then to the rocker pinch weld ( this setup is almost
like a lader bar setup but ive driven mine since
before christmas.)but just brace up all the suspension
mountin area as needed oh and my car doesnt need more
than a 3.73 gear and its way too quick to not be right
( but then when i estimate a 380+ lb ft of touque
out of my 355 and my tci trans/saturday night special
conv and use my desktop dyno and drag strip it
converts to low 8's high 7's in 1/8th AND gets up to 100
way to fast till i get brakes going and new wheels on
{15x7 with 3.5 in backspace w/225/50/15 and 15x8.5 with
3.625 back space w/275/60/15 }
