302 question

One of my first cars was a 26,000 69 Camaro Z28.
I bought it in 1974 and was stupid to sell it, but
college tuition was a higher priority. I'll never forget
how that car ran. Nothing below 2500 rpm, but start
getting above 3000, and hang on. I see your point Robert,
and after playing with Dyno2000, what I came up with
was absolutely amazing. I was initially planning on
building up a 383, but a 302 or 327 looks better. Since
302 pistons are hard to find and expensive, do you
think this would work. I picked up for free, a 350
roller bare block. Would a 4.3L crank (from a 92-96
Caprice), the longer 4.3L's 5.94" rods and 327 pistons
work? Doing the math, they are only 0.010 shorter than
the stock setup. What affect would this have? Also,
would it be necessary to go with a forged or cast
crank? I checked the local parts store and can get both.
Also would the 5.94" rod take it, or would it be
better to get the 6.00" heavy duty rods and mill the top
of the piston 0.050". My intention is to
occasionally take the car to LACR, and on the street rarely
rev it 7000 Any comments would be greatly
appreciated....Barry

Hmmmmm...I need some time to think that over. I am not an expert on swapping those later parts...Robert
