New forum area? - eBay stuff?

Postby 75_2+2 » Mon Apr 21, 2008 2:55 pm

I found an item on ebay and went ahead and made the first bid. Put in what I can afford to bid for it (not too much, I don't have a lot), but I have already been out bid. I got to thinking that maybe I would post it up here because I know that some of you would probably like it, but not sure if I should.

Do we have a place in our forum for like an "I found this on ebay and I am bidding and I want you guys to stay away" area? What is the proper etiquette for things like this here? Do I just post things for you all to see and hope that it is not something that the rest of you don't want us to see in hopes of not running up the price?

Thoughts and Comments?

No offense to anyone with good intentions, but if you don't want competition on the bid, keep it to yourself, and don't bid more than you're willing to pay.

If you post about it, you might get a couple of well-intentioned people to not compete with you, but at the same time, pique the interest of other people who will happily bid against you.

I think the general forum is general enough for a post like that. I think we have way too many forums as it is and don't want to risk generalizing any further.

I don't see a problem announcing your bid. For the most part we are pretty nice, here.

Best of luck,

I think if I found something I really wanted I'd keep it to myself unless it was more than I'm willing to pay. Then I'd post it. If it was something I knew someone else needed really bad I'd post it. But sometimes there's something you really really want and don't see often and maybe not many are looking, that's when I'd keep it to myself.
