Board slow and showing errors

Postby gerbsinmd » Tue Apr 28, 2009 7:54 am

I've noticed lately that the board has been rather slow.

I've also been getting:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Too many connections [1040]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

when trying to go from post to post.

Are we having some kind of difficulty or just suffering from a shared server?

Happens to me once in awhile but last night or the night before it was real bad. I just surfed a bit and came back.
I think Dennis said before it's a shared server?

I get error messages like that on other forums, even ones with dedicated servers. You have to limit the number of database connections or it will blow up. Because we're on a shared server our limit is a lot lower, but I think it still provides a decent quality of service.

You know, I think the slow down may have happened the at the time I was shuffling posts around.

Maybe, but it would have been coincidence. You're still one connection to the database no matter what you do, and shuffling posts doesn't put a lot of strain on the server (as best I understand it).
