I always use "view new posts" and that seems to work the best for me.

Yes, but do you see "old posts with new posts in it "?

(Posts created for a long time ago, but with new posts in it?

I´ll answer myself, it seems to work to see "old posts with new posts in it " :)

But... , I guess the "View Active Topics" has (had) the meaning to only show topics which are "active"=many posts lately, or something like that.

I liked that option.

I found something here:

Hi, Folks,
Upgraded to 3.0.6 from 3.0.5 two day ago - everything works fine except the "VIEW ACTIVE TOPICS"
You press the button / link and it returns "No suitable matches were found" inside the correct page layout.
That is the page has the format correct but no data.
Anybody else have this problem and is there an easy fix?
Thanks,
Bill
----------------
There was a bug in 3.0.5 that meant all the forums were used for active topics even if the option was on no.
In 3.0.6 this has been fixed so you need to edit each forum (manage forums>green cog icon) and turn it on for the ones you want to use.-----

Yes, they are in order of when the last post was made on a particular topic. As you scroll down you will see older topics too in order of time posted. So eventually you will get down to the time that you were last online.

Yep, but you get very many "hits":

"Search found more than 1000 matches"

As I said, I guess the "View Active Topis" is supposed to pick those threads that are "hot" (lots of discussions going on "now"), and I think it was nice to have both options.

I used "View Active Topis" more than "View new posts"

According to the link I posted, you have to manually do something on each forum

Thank YOU!

Just curious: What are the criteria/condition for a topic to be marked as an "Active topic" in "View Active Topics"?

Thanks again,
