The official "Fix this board's problem" thread

Postby ColinOpseth » Tue Jul 18, 2006 1:20 am

OK..
Some of you guys have made some very constructive criticisms over the last few weeks. I've tried to make as many changes as possible but stopped when I was getting ready to move the boards to H-Body.org

Post here any changes you need, problems you're having or features you'd like to see implemented.

I'll go through one by one from start to finish and complete them. I will be editing your post with a small snippet of text once your issue has been resolved.

For now, I'll get the other template ported so that you will have an alternative layout scheme :)

Keep in mind that more detailed posts will make it easier on me :D
Later,
Colin

Hey Colin
Can't say enough for for all the work you've done here, it's wonderful to see a moderator ... period, let alone one that is easy to accessable and willing to make the changes that the guys want to see. OK, I've sucked-up enough, now I want ... j/k

I'd like to be able to add individual albums to the "albums" section. I personally have a lot of H-Body pics to share and would need sections where I can post numerous pics in one, rather than the format at present where every pic stands alone. Is there a way of setting it up so that I (or anyone of course) can log in and create a public album (or add to an existing one) and add pics to it, create a seperate album for another topic etc, etc. Basically creat numerous divisions of albums rather than just the 2 basic ones, just like the forum setup, but for pics.

Also, I know there are a few of us that liked the classified sections (sale, trade, wanted) to have a forum setup rather than what is at present. I like seeing the dialogue between buyer and seller in the post format, rather than have all transaction in 'secret'. This works as a kind-of self moderated evaluation system, rather than giving that job to you to rate, keep track of all transactions, etc, etc. Just let it flow like V8monza had (hate to say that, lol). Plus you get only 10 items per page in the present system whereas you'd get numerous more in one page in the other system, meaning items stay front and center much longer.

How about having all your cars in your garage listed under your avatar so you can who owns what and how many?

Good for now.

Me too. I'm looking into that. Hopefully will have it resolved soon.

Ditto on that issue. Colin or I will try (again) to merge them with this board. In the worst case, I'll put them up in a separate "read only" board for people to search.

I tried to post a pic in the main album, but I must have screwed up or my dialup lost it. But I can't fix it. Shouldn't the person who posts a pic be able to delete it?

Fixed. I changed permissions so that registered users can delete their own pics.

Thank you, drive through! lmao

Meet the Owners

Postby Buscop » Tue Jul 18, 2006 5:15 pm

A Forum that allows the "owners" to post their information would be nice. Like a photo of the car and the fellow or lady who owns that vehicle, slaves over that vehicle or is in debt because of that vehicle might be of interest to all of us. It is very surpising to see what the other fellow actually look like at times. Here you think its a kid posting and it turns out the fella is almost 60 years old!...like me!!! 8)

Over in the garage the word color is misspelled. It says colour.

View new posts since last visit problem

Postby cacmanjr » Tue Jul 18, 2006 7:57 pm

Whenever I go to "view new posts since last visit" and start opening the threads, the board updates the last visit date and time before I can get through all of the new posts.

Just make a post with it.... or add your picture to your garage :)

Not a bad idea actually. I'm going to add my personal picture to the garage now.

Well, it depends how ethnocentric one wants to be ;)

I'll change it to color as most of the members are -ahem- American. I'll go against my heritage on this one!! lmao

I'll work on that this weekend if I have time. My guess is the boards will remain separate. I think I can get the memberslist imported without too much trouble, though.
