Board upgrade - Site Going Offline

Postby ColinOpseth » Sat Nov 26, 2011 2:13 am

Hey guys,
I'm going to upgrade the board software tonight. It's a pretty labor-intensive process so the board will be off the better part of the night. It should be back online tomorrow morning.

As for the search box, it might not return. Dennis had changed the search box to use Google awhile back and that feature may return.

Thanks,
Colin

Loosing the "view new posts" search would be inconvenient, but not nearly as disheartening as "Account has been suspended".

I don't think we could give Colin enough praise. This site has always been decent, civil, well laid out, and easy to use. I wish more web sites were as good as this one. Loosing a search function to keep it all is a small sacrifice.

Thanks Colin. :th:

Okay,
The site is now running the latest version of phpBB. The Garage is 'very' out of date and I'll re-add the links for the garage in a little bit but I'm not sure there won't be some issues with it. A guy forked the project a few months back and has been working on a new release. For now, we'll have to deal with what we have. That's the nature of Open Source software. :bang:

Let me know if you have any problems. I'll be moving everyone to the prosilver template in the next few minutes. The eMuza templates will be going away.

Thanks,
Colin

Okay,
Made a few minor changes. You'll note that the search box is back but there's a forced checkbox that will call Google Search. The Advanced Search page now only allows you to Google search the site.

I'll work on the Garage as time permits. I have an email in the queue with the developer of the new phpBB Garage script.

Thanks for your patience,
Colin

I'm not much of a moderator but I do keep the bills paid, keep the board running, ward off spammers, and help people register. :)

But definitely, this board would not be what it is without Colin. He has spent countless hours setting up and configuring this board and developing it into a real community.

Some good changes are in the works, details as available...
