I would think with what you where going to pay Eric you could take the money and the directions for modifying the stock mounts ( they are floating around this site) and have a shop do the mod for you!

That's the plan. Shimming will be my next option.

Cool. When you find a shop to do it mention that you might be able to generate some more business for them and it would be a good idea to keep the plans and any jigs etc. for the next set :-).

Maybe they'd give a group discount if you got a few more people to order when you do.

Is it hard to find a shop that will do it? If you guys need mounts too then why not do what I'm doing, which is what you suggested. I'm not saying that I won't try to get a shop to make a few sets, I don't mind trying. I'm just curious if you guys have tried the same thing.

I haven't tried yet. It'll be a long while until I'm ready for mounts. I'll probably fab something.

I'm only interested in running the front mounts. Simple is good; so no, I probably won't have a need for the standard SBC mounts. If I did, I'd have some modified according to the schematic available here on the site. Otherwise, these cars are pretty straight-forward.

Just an update for those of you who expressed interest in having mounts made using the specs that are provided here at the site.

Me and a new friend/acquantince are going to try to fab a set for my car this weekend, hopefully. I'll install them this weekend also, if I have time. I'll post another update to let you know how they worked out. If all goes well then we may make a few more sets.

All done! We made some mounts and I spent the day Sunday dropping the engine and trans in and bolting everything up. Finished it yesterday and have already put about 50 miles on it. No problems so far, and the oil pan clearance is far more than it was with the old mounts.
Unfortunately, the guy that helped me make my set says that he has no desire to make anymore. Says he really doesn't have the time. Oh well, I hope mine don't break any time soon!
I think I'll be needing new rear tires soon! I'm just breaking in the new 350 and trying to be easy on it......but at 1/4 throttle from a dead stop I'm spinning the tires for about a foot. I hit it to about 2/3 throttle and smoked the tires for about 6 feet!! This is gonna be fun!! :)

Glad to hear the good news. You're on your way to putting the Monza ahead of the Monte Carlo and Nova.

The mounts came out looking just like the ones pictured in the "How to make your slappy mounts..." instructions thread here on the site. I don't have a digital camera or a scanner right now but I may get a camera in the near future. I would have posted pics by now if I could. Sorry.
