Robs Show cars fiberglass parts

Postby Nickmorris1 » Tue Apr 05, 2011 1:38 am

I recently did business with Rob Johnson from Robs show cars body parts. they operate out of canada. I put my order in over 9 months ago for a 72 style front clip. He told me it would be around a 3-4 week turn around and that i had to pay in advance for the piece. Which i did. I waited, and waited and he kept telling me it was hard to keep good help, that he was in the process of changing shop locations and mostly that it would be out next week... after 8 1/2 months i was notified that it was ready to ship, was just going through packaging it up and awaiting deployment to the states. I paid for shipping at this time and it was finally on its way. When i arrived at the shipping dock i saw this packaged up piece of something that looked to have been boxed and wrapped with scotch tape, i laughed and walked on it not even thinking this could possibly be MY packaged! Sure enough i was told thats the package i was looking for... I took what cut up boxes were left taped to it and got it all cleaned off of the actual front clip. It looks terrible. its way to short, aprox 6 inches too short. it will need some serious body work before its ever rready to prime and paint to look halfway decent. its very very thin!!! I will have to modify the whole thing in several ways to make it work decent....

I recently did business with up22.com for a fiberglass hatch... it took 2 weeks and it was on my porch packaged securely and looks great! they do very good work!!!

Thanks for confirming once and for all what we had suspected about Showcars for a very long time Nick.

Unfortunately ShowCars has a very bad reputation for the exact reasons you mentioned. Pay in advance, very long wait time, lots of excuses, and then a inferior product.

Good luck on those items. You have to be very careful ordering anything for these cars from sources that you are not familiar with. Some of the vendors have a good reputation and some don't. Often times you get parts that are not correct, don't fit, are inferior etc. I know you are relatively new on this site but this is the best place to ask about reputation.

On January 20 of 2010 I placed an order with Showcars in Canada.
It was for a 69 Dodge Charger grill in fiberglass. Well it's been a thousand
excuses and a year now. Nothing. Very fustrating, if I would have known
I would have never ordered from Rob. Basscily stole 350 bucks from me.

I purchased a rear valance from the same outfit. Took forever to arrive and when the part finally arrived it was the worst fiberglass reproduction I have ever seen. I would stay away from these guys.
