New from Texas

Hello everyone. Thank you for the add. I am very impressed with the hospitality, content, and overall knowledge base here. I’ve been building, racing, and restoring classic cars thank to my dad since before I had a driver’s license, starting back some 40 years ago. As I have said in other online classic car circles, I have a bucket list of approx. 5 cars I would like to own before I die: 55’ Chevy Bel Air (previously owned), 1923 T-bucket (Previously built/owned), 1966 Chevy II Nova (maybe one day), 1966 Chevelle SS 427 (maybe on day) and finally a 1971-73 Vega which I just picked up a 73’. I have loved Vegas since I was a kid. Growing up, I remember these cars sitting on the car lots brand new and although I liked them even then, it wasn’t until I stated seeing what Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins was doing on the drag strip with his Vega that I really got interested in these little cars. To me, there is no other better looking pro-street or drag car than a Vega. I am now long passed the drag racing/hot rod scene and looking to build my 73’ into just a nice riding, driving and fun project. Anyway, I’ve rambled enough, I appreciate the acceptance of being a member here and I’m sure I will have many Vega specific questions to come.

Welcome! Looks like you have a nice start there. What are your plans for the Vega?

Thanks Chuck.
We'll, not sure yet. I am tossing it back and forth to go back all original except for the engine. Stock suspension, stock wheels/tires and only drop in a v8 mainly for dependability and to better run my A/C.

I am also debating to do the S10 5-lug swap. Either way, I will be dropping in a SBC.

Other than that, I am still mulling over ideas for my path forward with this car not to mention, I still have to get a title.
