I have a 1978 Monza 2+2 Spyder, and just got a new 350/300 crate engine for the car, and the oil pan hits the steering linkage. Does anyone out there have any idea how to dimple the pan with out destroying it. The old pan will not fit the new engine. Does anyone know of a place that does this type work? I took a worn out 350 of the car.

This question would probably have fit in the engine section better that the off topic section.

Is the new engine a one piece seal oil pan or the older 2 piece?

If it's a newer one piece, You either need to modify yours (cut and weld) or buy a new one from http://www.kevkoracing.com/wetsump_chevy.htm.

There are a few topics on oil pan modifications in the engine forum.

And on Bob Gumm's V8Monza site has the "Mod's in one of his pages with lots of measurement to make sure it fits the first time! Happy Cutting Harry http://www.v8monza.com/ Scroll down in the 1st H-Body FAQ section (upper left) to the V8 oiling section

As mentioned, you need to know what type of pan your block requires. If it does use the older style then the easiest thing (well maybe not that easy) is to find a V8 Monza oil pan. There are also aftermarket ones available specifically for a H body chassis. If it does require the newer style pan then you probably will have to do some modifications to it, you do need to be aware of clearances inside the engine though so nothing hits if you end up dimpling it.

I think that it is a fine idea to require a number of posts in order to list items or cars for sale on this site. Spammers run wild if not checked. I had to give up my long standing AOL account due to being spoofed and spammed to death. I actually got emails that appeared to come from my own account that were hawking a so called Canadian Pharmacy. My computer guru friend identified the breach as being of Chinese origin. If you have a valued email address, be careful who you give it out to friends.

My sweet potatoes are in, and damn they are whoppers! A couple of these are far larger than a football and weight in at about 10 pounds. Anybody else have any taters to compare. I have never seen any this big!
