Problem with my S-10

Postby monzamess » Wed Apr 25, 2007 11:56 am

Ok, looking for opinions on what's wrong. 97 S-10 pickup. Sometimes when I accelerate hard, there's a gurgling / water pouring noise coming from the dash.

I guess it's related to the heater core but I can't tell. The coolant level is not going down, the truck never overheats, and there's nothing leaking inside the cab or under the truck.

I also thought it might be rainwater that got trapped in the cowl and was running out, but the last time it made this noise, it had been sitting for 6 weeks with no rain in south GA and was dry as a bone.

Any suggestions?

If your truck has A/C set it to "max A/C" and on hi.
If it smells musty than you have water trapped in your dash.
If it doesnt smell than its probably because of the angle at which the heater core is mounted....sometimes they dont mount on a vertical plane but rather a horizontal plane and coolant can slush around in them.

We had a 96 E350 that always had that slushing sound....but couldnt fix it.

Also..I dunno if your truck has one but youmight pull out your cabin air filter and see if its wet in there.
There arent too many places for water to get trapped IN the dash let alone be retained in the dash to slush around...it would usuall leak.

But its probably heater core slosh.

God bless
