INTERNET CAR BUYING-NO FUN AT ALL

Postby mldeolde » Mon Jul 02, 2007 9:38 am

WELL I'VE BEEN AT AGAIN LATELEY. trying to purchase a new Silverado 4wd for towing the IMSA or having fun in the mountians or desert and to just plain not have to drive a non air conditioned truck everywhere in the heat. my last new truck was in 1992 and it now has over three hundred thousand miles on it so i'm due. i had tried in january to get this thing done and got all the promises that everything was done, paperwork, loan approved etc. so i showed up only to find in reality nothing had been done and i got the royal runaround so i walked on the deal and have been stewing in my own juices ever since. so now in June i've cooled down enough to give it another go. so i find a really great, red, Z-71 opt truck with the just released 6.0, all aluminum 367 hp vortec max engine. very rare right now but just exactly what i wanted. i had appreoved financing from another source and a check was supposed to be here in three to five days. so last Saturday was the end of the month and the last day for the end of the month deals that the panniced car dealers do. so of course my check still doesn't show up Saturday morning,my luck continues. dealer says let's see if we can get you financed and get you a better rate than you current financeing. so i wait. hours go by. six hours latter i get an e-mail. titled"GOOD NEWS" then the e-mail says i have some good news and some bad news." oh shit here it comes" WE CAN GET YOU FINANCED NO PROBLEM AND EVEN AT A POINT CHEAPER THAN YOUR CURRENT LOAN OFFER. THE BAD NEWS THE TRUCK YOU WANTED HAS BEEN SOLD------- WHY WOULD ANY ONE EVEN BOTHJER TO E-MAIL YOU TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THEY HADEN'T PREVENTED THE SALE OF THE VEHICLE THEY WEREWORKING ON SELLING YOU BUT THAT THEY COULD GET YOU FINANCED ON THE VEHICHLE THEY NO LONGER HAD.

Well, I have a story, but it's not an internet deal.

I have a brown S-10. I actually *bought* a red S-10 with the same options.

What happened is, a really crappy Chevy dealer in Durham NC had the trucks--identical trucks except one was brown, one was red, and one was baby blue.

I wanted to buy the red one but their sales staff was a bunch of morons giving me the usual dealer BS. So I went to their sister dealership in Chapel Hill (8 miles away) and "bought" the red truck.

When we went to pick it up, they had "sold" it already to someone else. Since I was considering the brown one anyway, I just took that one, and they did the paperwork shuffle.

Guess I should have just walked away but I was much younger, slightly stupider, and at least it's been a good truck. :)

:D WELL IT WAS WELL AFTER TEN PM WHEN I FIALLY GOT OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP . DIDN'T GET THER TILL ALMOST 8:30PM. I CALLE A SMALL DEALER IN THE TOWN NEXT TO RIVERSIDE TODAY AFTER GETTING NO REPLY FOR DAYS OF E-MAILING REQUESTING INFO ON AN INTERESTING TRUCK THEY HAD. TURNS OUT THE INTERNET MANAGER WAS NO LONGER WITH THE DEALER AND "dahh" HIS INCOMING E-MAILS WERE NOT BEING REROUTED TO SOMEONE WHO COULD DEAL WITH THEM. SO THEY TURNED ME OVER TO THE YOUNG SALES MANAGER. I WAS EXPECTING TO GET A LINE OF MANURE FROM HIM SO I WAS PLEASENTLY SURPRISED WHEN AFTER I HIT HIM WITH AN EVEN LOWER NUMBER THAN I HAD AT ANOTHER HIGH VOLUME DEALER HE SAID LET ME CALL YOU BACK IN A COUPLE OF MINUETS. SCARRY HE ACTUALLY DID CALL BACK IN A VERY FEW MINUETS ONLY TO TELL ME THEY HADN'T SOLD A CAR ALL DAY SO THEY NEED THE SALE . THEY WOULD DO IT. EVERY ONE AT THE DEALER WAS VERY PLEASENT AND HELPFULL. THEY EVEN GOT ME A BOTTLED WATER WHILE I WAITED A FEW MINUETS FOR THE PAPER WORK TO BE COMPLETED. SO NOW I AM THE PROUD OWNER OF THE FIRST NEW VEHICLE I GOT FOR MYSELF SINCE 1992. A 2007 SILVERADO 4WD EXT CAB Z-71 WITH TRAILORING PACKAGE, DUEL AIR CONDITIONING, 6 DISC CD PLAYER,AND THE 18 INCH WHEELS AND TIRES NO ONE ELSE COULD COME UP WIT UNLESS I WANTED TO BUY A 36,000.00 TRUCK, AND I DIDN'T. SCARRY THIS WAS THE MOST PLEASENT BUYING EXPIEIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD :D :D :D

the duel air conditioning thing is probably a missnomer. what it is is a two sided air conditioning control system where the driver and the pasenger can actually have there air conditioning temp set at different values ie 68 degrees for the slightly portly driver and 72 degrees for his thin and trim girl friend. a real neat convienience for two people that are confortable at such different tempretures.
