Euro road trip

My First officer and I rented an Audi A3 2.0L Turbo Diesel 6-speed manual sport wagon with satellite navigation from Avis for 53.30 euros (around $67.00). We drove from Cologne, Germany to Aachen, Germany and on to Brussels, Belgium and back to Cologne. I though that A3 was a really cool car-- a little small, but well-made and well-appointed with options. Very comfortable, very quick, with tight handling. We ran at 210 Km/H on the A-4 Autobahn where it was free-speed, but most of the day kept it between 120 and 140 Km/H. We got about 6.43 liters to 100 KM on the trip, or about 36 MPG in combined driving. Diesel was .98 euros/liter, and we refilled for about 26.50 euros before turning the car in to Avis.

The A3 TD is coming to the US later this year as a 2010 model. Watch for it!

Much more fun and less expensive than riding the train! Oh, yeah; Brussels was cool, too.
