1974 Camaro Project

Postby Wizeguyrc » Mon Apr 22, 2013 9:57 pm

Finished this car and sent it out over the weekend. He bought the car in 1975 and made it into a drag car. It hasn't been raced in about 15 years and he decided to put it back on the street using a road race theme.
468 BBC, Keisler 6-speed, Fab 9 rear with Chassisworks 4-link and front crossmember and Vintage Air. Most of the race parts came from cup teams. Mark Giles built the chassis and hung the roof and quarters and we finshed the rest of the car including the headers and exhaust.

That is bad ass! Love the theme, and great metal work. That's on my list for this year is to play around a lot more with aluminum. Great work on the dash, nice to look at and not too "race car" flat and lifeless.

Thanks guys.
I wished this would have been an all out race car so we could have used aluminum. It's much easier to work with than steel :bang: .
Can't wait until he get's it done so I can beat it up a little. :th:

What are the plans for finish?

It screams for something matte. I picture like the F-bomb Camaro.

I want to build just a wicked, no frills bad ass ride that doesn't care what anyone thinks. I always make cars too nice so I'm afraid to do things with it. I need a car I can just beat on and have fun with!

Surprised he didn't want aluminum even on a street car. I could see it was steel, and if you can TIG weld aluminum seems like a "must use" option.

He is thinking about a matte finish. As far as aluminum was concerned, he wanted something that would last over 1000's of miles being abused and hammered on...lo
Aluminum tends to be less durable over the long haul...cracks, dents, etc.
