When I found the pix of my Sunbirds (and I coulda swore I had more of them...) I found pix of my first car, a 73 Pontiac Ventura II. 350/auto. I traded a guitar for it. It came with several extra wheels, a radiator, and about half a million beer cans. The floor under the front seats were a couple 2X4's holding up the seats, a RXR crossing sign and a washing machine lid. It got me to school and my grocery store job just fine, though. I kept it over the winter and sold it to a guy I worked with who wanted the sub frame and drive train for a hot rod project. I got it to his yard, and he had it cut up and ready for the scrapper in record time. The driver's door was so rusty that I could grab the bottom of the door skin and pull it over the window... I liked it even though it was a total beater, I could park it anywhere and nobody would mess with it, probably because it looked like you'd catch something from it I remember buying oil by the case and refilling the engine pretty much every time I had to fill the gas. Now that I remember, putting more than $5 (in 1987, so a larger volume than now) the gas would leak out the hole in the tank. I can't imagine letting MY kids drive something like this around, but I remember my parents being glad they didn't have to tote me around or let me use their car anymore. I couldn't park it by the house, though
So let's see your first rides!
