ok,got a off topic question. The engine controler in my daily driver died, and it is a one off and no longer available anywhere that I can find (oem or aftermarket) I know whats wrong with it but I need to find a company who can repair it. Its a 91 v6 dodge daytona and the board is full of anteque(?) resistors, diodes, and bridges. SSSOOO...if anybody can help I would be grateful.I know it aint a Vega/Monza,but it is a rare car and I would like to keep it if I can get it running again. I can be contacted at (e-mail) charliel@cox.net Thanks in advance.

Ok, the p/n is 4723559,federal,its a 60pin connector, for a 3.0 V6 Mitsibishi,5spd man. From what I have learned so far is that this is the only ecm that will work on this car. There are other Mopar models with the same eng/trans combo but those ecm's will not work on this one, yeah, sucks to be me, however i have a back up car. 01 Chevy Cavaler z24 I found local,in good condition with fresh paint. Naw it aint a Vega but i can dream cant i ? Thanks for the inputs.

Now that you gave us the number , I can't find a replacement either.........maybe Clyde can find one.

Remember, dont get too attached to cars, there is always another one around the corner ...

Major problems with 80-90's Mopar ECM's ( from what I read ) .......I say get the Cavy............ :th:

Call Rodney at SpareECM (330-473-0426) I know that he can refloat solder the older LT1 computers, he may be able to get yours repaired too.

i have had good luck with the guys at www.pcmforless.com hope you can find one somewhere...or do what we do when the computer system starts to go nutty--GUT it and stick a carb on it...or better yet convert to v8/rear wheel drive--i think mopar even made a subframe/cradle conversion for that at one point....

OK, just got back, and to reply to the following:hiwinding monza:tried parts Geek, but I got curious about them wanting money/shipping before doing any work.Found a site that checks out these type sites and they didnt check out. PS,the ones on E-Bay are for A/T cars, mine is M/T. Oh yeah, I bought the Cav,sweet little ride
Fatguy:Pcm for less is all GM thanks anyway. As for the carb idea, there is no intake/carb for a 3.0 Mitsi v6.not on this planet anyway. Mopar made a kit years ago to convert FWD Daytonas to RWD v8 but are no longer available. The great pcm hunt continues!

My parents had a Chrysler Laser (twin to the Daytona) that had a bum ECU. It was still under warranty at the time, so the dealer swapped ECUs (and about a dozen other parts) a couple times until they got a "good" one. The problem was a cold solder joint on the board that when it dropped below freezing (as it does about 9 months of the year where I grew up  ) the solder shrunk enough for the connection to break, and the car wouldn't start. So maybe you can try re-flowing the solder joints on yours to try and get it up again while you look for your un-obtainium ECU...
And a friend had a V6 Daytona, nice car and accellerated pretty nice for the era.

for what its worth, back when I was in the air farce i used to work in the avionics lab and did all the nasa quality soldering for them under a microscope and IF you cannot find a replacement and are at your wits end you can send that ecm to me and if i can get into it i will inspect and reflow your solder joints for you. if i can find the same run material they had in our lab i can even repair/replace some runs for you.

please note; i do not want this to become a regular thing but for a club member in a bind i will try ok?

cheers, Todd
