my stepfather has been getting me involved with his club its pretty cool to see the minature engines running. a lot of them are full coal fired steam engines!its amazing to see the detail of these engines that the guys have built in person. heres a link to the club, http://ourvalley.ca/attractions/trecoth ... r-railway/ and heres a short vid showing one of the steam engines, i rode on this one and have now been made a member of the club so i can drive them should be really cool! :th: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6SfiVUdD2s this area was willed to the club by the owner who passed on and wanted it to continue on.

I'd buy that place! Cause I love things that are a little off the beaten path.. and I also love trains. From 0 to 9 year's old I across the street from an active rail line. Learned to like the sound of rumbling engine, and a wailing horn, Doppler effect and all that early on. I can remember having sesame street disrupted with a rolling screen on a really primitive TV, whenever the trains rolled by.

A few years back, while looking at google maps I decided to find out after all these years where exactly the line went. I found out some history of the line. Much older than I had thought.. those tracks or at least that line, had been there since the 1840's! The part of the line that went by that house has since been removed, but the remainder of the line is active as a historic / sight seeing / tour ride... Sooo guess what I'm doing this year! Taking a ride! It's going to be so neat answering a long past and forgotten question from my early youth... where did the trains go? where were they coming from?

If you like the miniature trains/engines thing this is a link to a show that was one of the largest (I don't follow as close as I used to so I am not sure if it still is?). Follow the links and look at all the pic's you will see something you like. There is a link section to other shows covering a pretty fair area, maybe one is close enough for you to make the trip. http://www.namesexposition.com/index.html (names exposition . org not name sex position .org get your mind out of the gutter  ) Enjoy! Glad to know I'm not the only one who has looked at google maps to see where train lines go. Power transmission lines interest me also. 8)
