I hate this winter.

On the way to work this morning, my truck's thermometer showed 2 degrees. We've had way more single digit lows this month than I can recall in any single winter of my 58 years here. A couple of crappy little 4 inch snows that won't go away because of the miserable temps. I'm a pipefitter/plumber at DuPont's Spruance Plant, and you would think the fact that water freezes at 32 degrees is unknown knowledge. I have repaired more pipes and valves than I can count. Many of them have heat tracing on them, but no one valved it in, (in the case of steam tracing), or turned it on, (electric tracing). In the case of steam tracing, once they realize a pipe is frozen, they valve in the steam, only to discover the tracing lines are frozen, and they split as well. I drive a diesel truck to work and it hates cold weather as much as I do. Thank heavens I have a block heater on the truck. Hopefully I'll be retired by the end of May. You guys up north have my utmost respect. I'll take a week of 95 degree heat any day of the week. Rant over. Carry on.

Congrats on the retiring in May.....
We've also had "unseasonably" colder weather here in East Tennessee. Last week and this week saw single digits multiple times. Never got over freezing for over a week. We got 2-5" snow Tuesday. Last night was 4 degrees, today got up to 34 for almost 2 hours before dropping into the 20s tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be into the 40s and Saturday is supposed to be 56  After all those days of single digits, I might go for a motorcycle ride Saturday!

The plant I work at also experienced 5 seperate pipe bursting events this week..... 3 today!!!!!... as the temps allowed them to thaw.

My galpal's mother lives off Fort Myer's Florida on Sanibel Island. When we were in single digits a couple weeks ago, their low was in the 60s.

By all means, take that ride. It looks like we're in for another round of mess next week.

We have 4 1/2 to 5 feet on the ground, with drifts up to 9 feet. it's gonna get up to 23 degrees (F) today with about another 6 inches. grillin on the deck today with the warm weather. we've had -10's and some -20's this past couple weeks. my only gripe is having to shovel our roofs every other week.

We saw about 60 today. I took the opportunity to wash the salt off of my truck. The heaviest snow I remember was in the 60's when we had about 28" over a couple of days. A few years ago, we got about 14" and it only hung around for a week or so. You can keep that 4-5 feet stuff. Wow!

Yeah, but you're used to that stuff up there, we have over 2 feet on the ground and Tuesday they are predicting another 4 to 8 inches. We were at 33 F today, but starting tomorrow we go back to the low 20's and teens for at least the next 10 days :censored: . We are used to getting a few inches and then it melts away and a while later we get another few inches. This stuff really sucks. My back yard is going to be a lake all summer once this stuff melts.

Just remember that all this global cooling is caused by global warming. Or is it global warming caused by global cooling?
Someone figure out where Al Gore is hiding these days and have him explain things to us.

Al is waiting until the "Carbon Credit" scam takes off. Once it does, (he stands to make a fortune from it), he'll buy a small island to live on.
