wont have a 12bolt in it (dropped in 70), but the larger 10bolt

be sure and hit the pontiac historical for the build sheet and info on it , looks like a sweet cruiser

I have already sent for the PHS on it, hopefully I can swing by and pick it up before Friday morning when I leave to pick it up.
I did not know that the 12 Bolt was dropped after 70, so it should have the Pontiac Built 8 7/8" axle?

You all are very Funny!!!! I hope to have alot of fun with it. I have E-mailed the Police Department in PA that originally owned it, hopeing they have some old pic's with some Old Pontiac's in them. The county Historical Center did not. We will see what happens.

I read the info in the listing and notice that it has had a vinyl roof added. I wonder if that was done to hide the holes for the roof light?
Awesome find; I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised with the performance. Those 455's made decent power and it's "only" 500 or 600lbs heavier than a T/A.
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

I was thinking the same thing about the Vinyl roof, but with the car not being a Patrol car, and not having Spot lights on the A-pillers, I won't know until I get it home.

As for Performance, I used to have a 72 T/A 455HO (round port engine) 4-speed with a 3.08 axle and that car with A/C and Power windows weighed 3900lbs without me in it! According to the Published Data a base model Catalina 4-door sedan with a 350 and T-350 trans weighs 4073lbs, so add about 150lbs for the 455 T-400 combo, another 100lbs for things like HD Suspension Alt, and Cooling system, and another 150 for "Cop Equipment" the ticket writing table and rear seat screen, my calculations put it at 4523lbs so your guess at 500-600lbs is about spot on.

My T/A stock was a 14 sec flat 1/4 mile car, so that would mean the Cataline should run high 14's in stock form if everything is working as it should, depending on rear gear ratio. According to what I have read it could have 2.73 to 3.42 rear gears with a 3.08 standard.

Nice score, Jeff! What a find. I nearly bought a retired City of Dayton, Ohio 76 Lemans. I was needing out of my Monza due to money, and the dealer that was buying it had just taken some in on trade for new Impala cruisers. That car was an absolute monster! But I couldn't afford it and wound up in a rusty 73 Nova 4 door. Good thing, cause I'm sure the Lemans would have been a bright blue casket for me.

This is actually going to be my 2nd Police Cruiser, back in 1976 my 2nd car was a 1973 Plymouth Satellite 440 4bbl Highway Interceptor but it was a clapped out 200,000 mile beater that was fast, but I did wreck it in about 6 months driving like a teenager.

Well I got the Pontiac Historical Paperwork on the car today (I cant believe it came this fast!) The car is exactly as advertised has a couple of extra options I did not know it had, A rear window Defogger (the fan style mounted on the rear package tray) and remote trunk release. The Special Equipment section shows it has a 4bbl 455 Performance Engine (that I am not sure what makes it a performance engine as round port HO engines are not supposed to be available on B-Bodies) Duel Exhaust (also not supposed to be available on a 71 B-body) HD Frame that I think is a Boxed Convertible style frame, Police Freeway Enforcer Package (not sure what that includes besides HD Front and rear sway bars) Extra Heavy Duty Springs and Shocks, and HD Radiator.
It also has the Roof Wiring Harness with Plate, so that sounds like it did have a roof light, so that explains the Vinyl Roof,
The only other options are Auto trans and Pwr Steering, Tinted Glass, Custom Cushion Steering Wheel, HD all Vinyl front and rear bench seats, and indash electric Clock. The car was delivered to a now out of business Dealer in Chambersburg PA (now a Taco Bell)

So there are a few things I will not know until I actually Pick up the car. I am starting to get a little geeked up about picking it up!

Well Jest Picked her up and loaded her up on the borrowed 16' trailer, just fit whew!!!! She fires right up and runs strong, just like I figured it had the D-port #66 heads, so big Valves, screw in studs and 8.2 CR should be the 335HP version. Passenger side exhaust manifold is shot, as are all the pipes, just as the seller described it.
It has a bit more rust than described, but a good solid northern car. Unfortunatly there are enough dings and scrapes that I think it is going to need a complete respray. It does have new tires, but the shocks, and belts look original, and it looks like the hoses were replaced once before a lot of our board members were born.
So besides all the Fluids, belts and hoses, it has a lot of little things wrong, the wipers, blower motor, rear defogger, gas gauge, and the rt turn signals are inop. I think I am going to order the Reproduction Ram Air exhaust manifolds for it. And a complete Stainless dual system, will have to do some research on that.
My wife convinced me to make a weekend of it, so I will not be able to post any good shots until next week. But the interior is in very nice shape, 1 small tear on the back seat, and the rear carpeting is pretty worn, other than that just the normal sun fading on the upper door panels.
The rear package tray is pretty bad, and it looks like the car did not have a roof light (but not sure on that) but it did have a couple of flashers bolted to the rear package tray. Not Radio or speakers.
All in All not much worse than I was expecting. Still Happy.

I've had a couple of the "large barge" generation(71-76) B-bodies; as I recall, they had 5 on 5" running gear. Lots of GM truck stuff fits. Like the 15x8" rally wheels from a 73-87 truck. If you want to remain stealthy, you could put the wheel discs on over them. I think they would fill out the fender openings nicely.

That's all that matters..... I've been surprised my by "luck" at winning unexpected auctions before.... like the 2400 mile trip to California for the '79 T/A. I hoped, but it was completely unexpected... remarkably, no one else bid against me.

Jeff, since seeing that car of mine transform into an LS powered, 6-speed, completely refurbished car by the guy I sold it to, has gotten me all geeked out about another 2nd gen. There's one at a dealership in Clinton Township, just north of Detroit. I may have to head up that way to check it out ..... and hit D&D Fab in Almont. We could hook up and take that beast out for a "Blues Brothers" run.

Dwight, I am up for that! We should be able to fit at least a couple 215's in the Trunk! And have room for Dick in the back seat. Man this car is Huge!!!! It is only the 3rd Full Size Pontiac I have ever owned. I got some work done this weekend. Found some strange things on the exhaust I found out a previous owner had removed the good Long branch D-port Manifolds and down pipes, and installed the lousy 1972 only manifolds that do no have provisions for the outer 2 bolts. The manifold are date coded 16 months after the car was built, so they are not original. Replacements are big $$$ but I got the car cheep and I always liked the way those cast iron headers flow and sound. So I am awaiting delivery of a new Repo set.

As for the Blues brothers Run, I don't think Detroit has anything Like Lower Wacker Drive!!!!!
