Anyone here know about gopro camera's?

Postby marco_1978_spyder » Thu Jun 19, 2014 9:31 am

I'm in the market for an action cam. Anyone here with knowledge of them? I'm looking at the Gopro hero+ line. I think the Silver might be what I want over the white edition.. but not sure..

Any advice appreciated

GoPros are great but the thing I don't like about them is that they are kinda bulky.

I've been considering a mountable Polaroid camera that's a bit sleeker.

Thanks for the reply...long time no-see.. I plan on also using it as a regular dash cam.

I'm a big fan of my GoPro2 my wife and I got before we went on vacation. We hooked it up to our rental car in St. Croix and got some of the most beautiful coastal driving video ever. Also used it under water... and it provided proof of the shark that my wife saw come within a foot or so of me (I was oblivious!). :? Anyway, they're easy to use, but I don't really have any good intel on anything else since I've only had my GoPro. Good luck in your search.

No screen but if your android phone supports usb hosting, you can download an app from the play store to adjust settings.

I'd also consider a Replay variant if you want something smaller, it has no screen (both a plus and a minus), water resistant and HD quality if you need. I have one and its a bit complicated to go through all the proper settings after having it sit on the shelf for a while but it works quite well. They also have good reviews.

I'm now looking at an ION Speed Pro cam. I can't figure out if the optional remote works only with the 'airpro ' model or also the speed pro too.

Well that settles it. To bad for ION they made it way to confusing to see if the 'speed pro' version worked with wifi.... + I finally found that it it's not compatible with windows xp. That canceled that deal.. So, I'm glad that person never got back to me, because I found a hot deal on a GOPro Hereo3 White.
It's the lower end model and this ones missing a mount or 2.. BUT.. I haggled it to $80!! I've been tinkering with it and starting to understand it (thank gosh for you tube!) I think it's going to work great. I got the remote app that works with my smartphone, so I can turn it on and off while it's mounted to remote parts of the vehicle... and I can see what it's recording.

My Lake Ontario circumnavigation (as part of the Monza-que journey) is going to be captured on an action cam.
This ought to be fun! I can't wait to get the bike mount kit and take some live suspension shots like on the promotional video's. Mounting the camera on the sway bar and such.
