Reminds me when I was in the Navy I was on a Sumner class DD (WW2 Type) in the late 60's headed to the Med. About 2 days out from Rota Spain, we got hit by a storm coming down from the North. It had waves like that and winds gusting to 70-80 mph. About 2 in the morning we got hit on the port side by a BIG wave that rolled us to a 36 degree roll to starboard and we hung there for a few seconds and every thing loose went flying to starboard including the watch officer who was sitting in a office chair and crashed into the coffee mess and lost the fight with the coffee pot (Loud scream) I had grabded the TDC and was hanging at about a 90 degree angle from the deck, and my pucker factor was so tight you could not drive a finishing nail up it with a 10 pound hammer. This only lasted about 10 to 20 seconds but it seemed like forever. The ship recovered and went back to the normal(?) rock n roll. To this day I have yet to find a roller coaster ride to match that ride! Thanks for the memories (I think)
