I was just thinking... the back of the spyder butt's up to the branches as I back it out of storage.
What got my attention about it, is that the plant wasn't there the last few years. This year however a it's grown into somewhat of a small tree. When I walked over to check it out..(plenty of poison Ivy in the mix so I know not to touch anything) It had an unfamiliar look to it. And the deep crimson stalk and branches, give me the same feeling as when you see a snake or a spider with special markings. If I had time I'd run over there today to take a picture of it.
I hope i'm wrong, because the neighbor, who cuts the grass there, must have brushed by it on the latest cut.
There are some sumac's that arent poisonous, but this one doesn't have those traits...
Oh and recently... I turned a trip to go get some craigslist snow tires, near Syracuse, into a trip to a cool nature park with tons of trails... along the trails were plaques describing some of the animals and vegetation, and that's where I got the first heads up on poison sumac.
BUT WAIT.. digging deeper, i think it might only be this...only toxic if you eat it.... "pokeweed"
