Craigslist stupidity

Postby Lord_Varon » Mon Oct 13, 2014 12:18 am

Okay guys, time for more CRAIGSLIST STUPIDITY!!!! AKA: Badly overpriced H-bodies on Craigslist..... tell me what you think

First up, is our friend from Western Virginia who still thinks his Monza is worth $2K.... at least it isn't under a tree anymore and the windows are up...

Second, is an 80 Spyder up in Connecticut that was obviously just dragged out of a field. I did get some pics of interior and it needs a major cleaning and what not but isn't too bad.. I think it is the Oyster white or something like that.... I emailed the guy and told him $500 dollars max and he laughed... well... guess after being around these for 25 years I don't know what I am talking about. He thinks $2700 is just right.

And finally, we have one that is honestly interesting, but still over priced... and I highly doubt they ever put a 400 in from the factory... but the numbered plaque makes this one something I might just have to go look at and get some info on.

Let me know what you think on these ads... like I said, the only one that is even remotely questionable on the price is the Sunbird.

Something is only worth what another person is willing to pay for it. I personally have never thought a Hemi Cuda is worth 100,000.00 to 3,000,000.00 either , but people have paid it.

The Spyder may be a better car than the pictures give credit.
The black car does say "make offer".

On another note, if you really want to get into Craigslist stupidity, read the personal listings.

The last two seem to be fair, asking price and selling price are two different things.

I think we have seen that Blackbird before, I would question the 400 and Muncie, certainly not factory offerings but could have been swapped in. Hard to believe someone would install a 400 and Muncie and stilll have the 13" tires on there, must like a lot of tire smoke. It would be intersting to see how the front of the torque arm is attached if it is indeed a Muncie. The decals and plaque could simply be aftermarket items, many used car dealers add stuff on like this to spruce up some plain janes. The motor is out, the seats are out????? Hmmm.........

I agree that they are way over priced, and that we had a discussion with the owner of the Sunbird a couple of years ago. I made up my mind that the car was probably Dealer Modified for the Graphic's and prior owner modified with the V-8. Remember that even the 305 V-8 was not available in a 1980 Sunbird, just 2.5 I-4's and 3.8 V-6's from the factory.
If I remember correctly the sunbird was complete and running when we were discussing it, bit the engine was tired.
