December 7th 1941

Just got back from my VFW post where we had our annual ceremony to remember this day and those who lost their lives. We have some WW2 vets but they are fewer in number every year. Soon they will answer to the final role call. Its up to us now to carry on the tradition of remembering them for what they did and why they did. We stood up as one and gave our most valuable asset....our young men and women plus our industrial might to help put down an evil that wanted to destroy the world. "All gave some, some gave all" A lot of us know what that means, some, not so much. Its up to me and my fellow vets to carry on this tradition and pass it on to the next generation, especially now days. We are looking at dark days and hard times due to the world situation today and I see our young headed into what would have been if we and the world had not stepped up and put down the evil we faced then. So,untill then, I will pay respect to all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and to those remaining few who I can say "Thank you and god bless you for what you have done!"

...... a day which will live in infamy.

Sadly, our world forgets history. I am appalled by the lack of knowledge I see regarding history.

Those that do not remember the past, are doomed to repeat it.

Thankfully, there is a link/picture on the Comcast homepage showing one of the battleships ablaze..... Sadly, it's not even the top story. Today, of all days. WTF?

I was stationed on board ship in Pearl for the 60th anniversary of the attack, they even used my FFG for the backdrop, it was a GREAT commemoration ceremony, and something will always remember. And the fact that there was so little coverage of it, along with the sanitizing of it and more recent events makes me seriously concerned for this country. There needs to be some REAL and well carried out changes or this country, and the world are gonna be screwed in the not too distant future I fear.

I believe this country is past its greatest time. Another good example is to look at pictures of Detroit, Germany and Hiroshima in 1945 and then compare those pictures to how they look today. :(

tracy you are right on about the comparison of those three cities. im really suprised the chinese never dropped a nuke on japan for what they did to china in the years before we entered WW11 what they did in shanghai and the rape of Nanking around 1937 is just as bad as what the germans did to the jewish during WW11. how quickly we forget. those cultures in those evil countries still exist, but we forgive and forget. big mistake. art

The thing that amazes me, when I tell people to look at the comparisons, is that most do not realize what made these changes until it's pointed out to them.
Socialism, in the form of the entitlement system, etc., has destroyed what was the greastest city in the world. While capitalism rebuilt the two countries that were left in ruins.

TRACY: NEVER REALIZED THAT IS WHY DETROIT FAILED. I ALSO THOUGHT THE U.S. MADE GERMANY AND JAPAN GREAT BY REBUILDING THEM. I GUESS WE JUST PLANTED THE SEED TO RESTART, AND THEY TOOK OVER FROM THERE AND PASSED US OUT. ART

I love to think about how much better we could have been if there would have been an Eisenhower/Patton ticket after the war. Nuke technology may have went in a different direction and we may have very well been living in somewhat of a Star Trek world. Instead we had a big party and squandered resources and a position of power we will never have back again.
So to point out the irony in Pattons last words, in relation to the possible future of our country: "This is a hell of a way to die". :bang:

i think paton was taken care of because he had some good plans to get things right after WW11(go in and bomb russia right away.. and curtis lemay had the right idea too about taking care of the Russians and their friends. lots of real, true men in those days that were true patriots. now we have a bunch of crooked, spineless creatures that are running this country and all seem anti- american. all these people that hate the american way should got to russia or other countries and find out the hard way how lucky they are to be here. i think the real americans still outnumber the creeps that try to ruin this country, and the good people will win this great country back. its gonna be tough but it can be done. we have to start with the very young to accomplish this, as the older ones are either shot, or already indoctrinated. enough said. i get in a real foul mood when i think about the good old days way back when as compared to today. god bless-oops- sorry, i dont think im allowed to say that anymore in this country ,as it may offend someone. art,
