No Superbowl complaints?

I'm really surprised no one has commented on the last offensive play by the Seahawks.

i dont know football and normally dont watch it. my comment to myself after that play was, that was the dumbest thing in the world to try and pass in that situation. no complaints though, because my buddyy won $5200 with the final score.. that seattle touchdown would have cost him all that money.. wonder what that coach was thinking, not to mention how mad the running back must be for not getting the obvious call to run it. cant wait to hear what the other guys on forum have to say art

I don't watch TV Any more at all, but I used to be quite a fan and payed a lot of time analyzing offense and defenses. After a day reading many articles, and quotes from players on the field at the time, my take is that the Patriot coaching staff had a plan for just the short yardage situation that appeared. Not so much the last 40 seconds of the game, but for any such short yardage goal line situation
Seattle had used that play many times during the season, with good success. They had a mindset in the offensive coaching staff that this was a great play made better by having the beast in the backfield. The Patriot defensive staff studied the play, and developed a strategy to defend against it. Butler, who made the intercept said he knew where the ball was going, that they had practiced against it.
How it played out: Seattle runs the ball to the half yard line, 3 downs left, one time out, clock running. A very high percentage of the time, the defense would call time to preserve time so they might get off a play and kick a field goal to tie if Seattle scored. This didn't happen. The Pats knew that Seattle would Pass in a high percentage of the time and have to if they needed three downs, didn't call time, probably rattling the Seattle offense (what are they doing?) into that play. Seattle probably thinking throw, if he drops it, the clock stops. They played right into the defenses plan. The Pats knocked the receiver off his route, or down, and the ball went right where Butler said he knew where it'd be. I read that Seattle didn't even make it look like a run, so every one of the Pats defense involved with that play, and that receiver did their job perfectly.
Had the Pats called time, Seattle would have had two minutes to calm, discuss options, and we may have seen a different outcome. By not calling time, the Pats forced the Seattle offensive coordinator to blink. He was trying to plan for three downs with one timeout, and then had to run something right now cause the clock was running. Seattle had no idea the Pats were prepared for that play. Although I'd have preferred a different outcome, I have to hand it to the Pats.

Stayed up till 11:30 pm ( we are 1 hr ahead of ET time) watching it and was so pissed that I couldnt sleep and had to get up at 5:30 to get ready for work.

Been a Seahawks fan for many ,many years , they should of won again but the 3 idiots that were involved in the decision need to be slapped. One of the best rushing teams in the NFL throws a pass at the half yard line? WTF? :bang:

You get to the Super Bowl, you go for the win IMO ( not to waste a play as they called it)

I'm still mad 2 days later......................................................

I can understand the play analysis, but don't think it's that complicated. I believe it's as simple as pride coming before the fall..... as the powers that be wanted Wilson to be the hero instead of Lynch. Just a theory

tracy: i heard that exact same theory from someone else in the past day. cant remember who said that, but i just cant believe that someone would make such a stupid gamble to satisfy (or un-satisfy) someones ego or pride. to many other people involved just to try and satisfy one person. i think i heard they didnt want the runningback to get the play and possible goal because he was such a live cannon with his mouth. art

Tossing a pass isn't THAT rare from the one. Tossing a pass to the interior IS. Normally they'll go for the corners or back of the end zone keeping the ball high so only, the receiver can make the play on the ball. Agreed though, that was dumb.

doug i really didnt know anything about the running back other than he seemed to be a real controversial guy who talked crazy when he did talk. maybe he is just a regular guy who just dont like the press. that is why i thought about the coach not using him for that play. just seems crazy to me about what happened. just a darn shame the seahawks didnt win. they probably deserved that game, and so did the patriots. was probably one of the best superbowls ever. art

Just a guy who doesnt like or trust the press, some people are like that, others feed off the press and like the attencion.

In his case, actions speak louder than words. :th:

For a double whammy this week, Syracuse Mens Basketball is done after the regular season ( no post season ) NCAA investigations caused them to take themselves out of the postseason this year.

And Robby Gordon didnt win the Dakar either but he won the last stage at least.

2015 aint looking too good for me sportswise ,but I still have the Canucks, Royals and GS Warriors to go......... :th:

Calling a pass on the one is extremely common on first down. They expect a run, stack the line, so you pass. Seattle liked the odds.
A rookie corner with three months as a pro pulled it off.

You want dumb?
McCarthey called three passes from the one against the Cowboys, while one of the top 5 running backs and our all pro fullback cooled their heels. Settled for a field goal.
He does that stupidity all the time.

Idiots..... what the he double hockey sticks were those guys thinking calling that play.. you throw to the middle on the 1 fleepin yard line you wanna throw fine throw to the corner of the end zone, high so if he dont catch it it's incomplete. That dont work ya run it, ta heck with the big bad patriots OUR O is built to run thats what we do, we shoulda ran it thru them. (can ya tell I'm a seattle fan)

I agree with the guys on tv after the game who said that was possibly THE WORST play call ever... ya wanna know what really pisses me off though... is after he makes the worst call in nfl history our OC throws the intended reciever under the bus ya know pal I woulda forgiven you for GIVING the fleepin patriots (of all dang teams now we gotta hear more crap about Brady mr wanna be best ever) the superbowl but we better fire your dumb a$$ for doing that!
