Casual Introduction: hope that's OK ?

Postby 357Monza » Mon Mar 30, 2015 8:05 pm

Hello everyone My name is Eric I'm Originally from Ohio but now live in Alabama I bought my 1975 Monza back in '89 in Mobile, Al. I paid 300 dollars for it and yes it ran!! :) However, I did get pulled over in it for displaying a rooster tail of smoke down University blvd. I had my two yr old son with me and the Sheriff's deputy made me walk home with my son!! I got it home and changed out the offensive smoke generator(the stock 262 cid) LOL I had a friend that knew a guy (YOU KNOW THE OLDEST STORY) and he got me a Chevrolet 350 and that was the start of a long friendship with my old chevy toy_ More on the Engine later!!! I'm new to boards that aren't associated with yahoo groups so forgive me if I'm too long-winded or Not succinct and to the point ill try my best though !! Thanks for allowing me to join this community it looks very informative and useful !!

Hi Eric If you get long winded some of posters will feel that you are just one of us! Why use 30 words when 125 will completely confuse the situation. Welcome aboard and you will have to up your game if you think that is a long post! You are about to catch crap as you didn't post pictures, and this crowd LIKES pictures! This is a pretty well behaved group of very like minded individuals most of which have been afflicted with the H-Body disease for usually a LOOOOONG time. I have owned an H-Body continuously since February 1982 and at five I'm not even top twenty on this board for the most, some of these "Guy's" have had well over ten each, and one member whom with you will converse has had his only H-Body since their debut. So I would guess that since you have had an H-body for twenty five +/- years you will fit right in ,or "Belong" here! (Long Winded) Harry :th: :D
I'm not a hoarder I'm a preservationist 78 Monza Spyder (~Soon(ish +/- I guess) To Be 2+2 with Spoilers)

Well thank you everyone for the wonderful welcome!! ... I promise ill post pictures i haven't taken many over the years but I do have a couple from early in the Monza's re-engined re-birth! I was having a problem with belts being thrown and took some pictures of the harmonic balancer to kind of confirm that I had it on the Crankshaft straight and it turned out to be the 3-grooved crank pulley !! I retained the 3 grooved pulley because someday i want to re-introduce the air conditioning !! I was lucky to find one on my first try I kept driving by this mobile home with a (personal) Salvage yard in front of it! A lot of homes in the country down here have a few cars under overgrown weeds lol but this WAS a small Salvage Yard it also had mobile homes in front (on the other side of the cars) of the Office, anyway, I could see a single Monza's nose sticking out near the back fence driving down to my in-laws house week after week.. and then when i had that pulley problem i went down to look at what that Monza had in its engine compartment . I couldn't believe it a V-8 with a 3-groove pulley sitting there inches from the ground I went back to my Van (a Windstar i no longer have lol -I'll have to post my fleet when i learn how ) grabbed some tools and pulled the pulley and knocked on the trailer door!! I was told i could just take it (wow thanks the cheapest part i ever bought for my toy )!! That was the culprit and started keeping belts and not having to pull my Monza over and run back and get my belts LOL The man that had the yard and Monza had a heart attack and died a few years later and the cars and trailers were removed; it is nothing but a dirt lot now and I kick myself for not going down there and picking off more parts from that Monza before it was gone!!
Again, thanks for the great Welcome!!! I'll got look for the Family Albums now and see if i can scan them in today!!

Welcome to you Eric!!!
...or should I call you, "forty-eighty nine"  ...that is, you are that number of members to this forum :th: ...and yes, you found the right one!!
Long winded? I doubt it right Harr? lol ..just kiddin' ...pics pics PICS!!...there that's out of the way...PICS....(squirrel).... :D
The best part is that with so many H-body Guys an' Gals coming out of the wood work in the last couple of years, I'm really starting to wonder how many more could actually appear any more! ...As you're already aware Eric, there's a real sense of pride having one of these and getting in touch with this board. You'll be amazed at the comeradery and information, good and bad, bad cuz there's some ribbin' that takes place here as well, and you'll be scanning the board for help and to share an idea on repair trix and such.
Again, a large Canadian Welcome from your H-buddy's in the Great White North! :P
