Alberta Wildfires on the Financial Post

Postby Sunula66 » Sat May 30, 2015 11:02 am

Well, it happened!
....since the downturn in the economy up here in oil country, that employs myself and thousands in the "oil-patch" area, we now have a real threat!
The entire region has a fire ban and the rest of our province!
As if it wasn't severe enough when the price for a barrel of oil tanked to below 45 bucks a barrel, which caused a massive layoff and including myself having to take a job with half of the pay than before, the real immediate danger is a f-kn fire that has closed the entire oil production and the Cold Lakes Air Weapons Range where a huge majority of production takes place, from access!!
Read the Financial Post to see this gy-normous fire. As of today, there has already been loss of 27000 acres of borial forests consumed and loss of baby bears, deer, Caribou, Cougar, birds of every desc. Moose and Elk and countless other species of animal and plant life destroyed! Our stupid elitest government has just announced yesterday to allocate Fire fighting equipment ie: water bombers from neighboring B.C. and asked for men and equipment to come from all over the country and Europe!
Just YESTERDAY FFS !!!! This fire has been out of control for a week!!! But now as the Financial Post is saying, "These fires pose a threat to Canadas infrastructure as far as the 10% of it's oil contributions for export from the oil produced from these affected areas! NO SHIT SHERLOCK!
So without further rant, this Government of ours doesn't give a crap about the land or it's people! and now we have the N.D.P.....what a joke!!!!!!!
Signed, moving to Australia!!
P.S. FYI....Conoco - Philips, that's right, an American Company, owns BILLIONS of dollars worth of the facilities in the areas affected! Gee, wonder if our government will ask for the volunteers from the U.S.A. to come up to fight for their investors!

Hi Doug!
How's things in P.R. ? Probably hot but not "burning up"....
Ya, the forecast isn't great as far as the immediate area re: forest fires are concerned.. the good news is that there is rain in my area but it hasn't travelled north enough yet but maybe tonight and tomorrow with any luck!
I was wondering if Bryan from Monza-Que will be sent out to firefight ?
Well, everyone, keep your fingers crossed that we get lots of rain!

I have never had to contend with a forest fire, but I have experienced the carnage and
damage of a NDP government. :cuss: Now that I think of it, you're about to experience it for
a second time.
You will have to let us know what causes the most damage, the fire or the NDP.

Real humid and hazy the past 4 days but not enough rain on the southside to make any difference , not much rain all spring and everything is brown around here.

More fire warnings here than rain in the forecast .................... Everybody is getting rain but us.

I think I'm still in Arizona this year so far......................................................

PS..... gas is up to .72 a liter with the added money to fund the DTOP :bang:

Fires under control...almost !!
Government out of control!...forever.....
My Sunbird , out of garage, tires burning under control, always he he he.....
The recent rains of the past week have created a safer fire control but still 350 or so Firefighters remain on duty north of here as spot fires still continue to spur but the heavier areas are mostly manageable! Yet oil productions for our areas are still minimal.
I don't anticipate returning to my old company until the new year if and when that opportunity arises. The Sunturd isn't seeing much travel this year and it hasn't attended any shows or gatherings as yet. The nearest show is Cold Lake but it is rained out today and I'm happy that it's for that reason, being as the fires outside of that area are still in need of water, but we are starting to see the end in site, thank goodness! :th:

Hi Ken!
well, I gotta say, while the forests will grow back greener, gasoline just jumped 20 cents a friggen litre thanks to our NDP Gov't....long lasting collateral damage!!
.....wonder what it would cost me to ship me and the Birdy to Australia....or P.R. or .....

Not so good here :( , gas up to .77 a liter, new tax on everything going up to 11.5 cents on the dollar on July first.
( the governor wanted 16 cents)

Government broke here, US aint balling them out anymore either........................ :( Got to find ways to make money.

Maybe Costa Rica or the Virgin Islands look better..........................
