new header tools

Postby monzabug350 » Thu Aug 20, 2015 6:40 pm

Just came across a new tool to build headers. Its ICEGINEWORKS, and if you have ever built a set of headers you know about the time, effort, cost and mistakes(?) and do overs. This new tool will make you wish it had been around when you built or had a shop build a set for you. Yep..I know all about picking a set out of the catalog and all..but it is such a cool tool I had to post it here. Oh...and it aint cheep! but if you have time, check it out. Something to make ya go hmmmm. Enjoy.

I could see how that would be very useful but impractical for the average hot rodder building one set considering the cost.

Only about 10x too expensive for what it is; just a bunch of plastic. I looked into this "tool" when I was fabbing the headers for my drag car.
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

I know that there are a few "guy's" on Speed Talk that use them and I haven't read many complaints (aside from the cost of course) about them. That tool will help a lot if you are trying to match length of the tubes and want some sort of symmetry from side to side. That being said, Racing Junk, Craigslist and eBay [etc.] are your friends as you don't have to buy new and you don't have to keep them afterwards. I will look into those when the time comes, I am sure as changing your mind just means undoing the "Lego's" until your happy{ish} It has been a bout a year or so since I read about these in HotRod(?) and they liked them with only a couple of remarks as I recall. If this stuff was $50-$100, I might be tempted, but $420? I admit it's a great idea, but whoever invented it is trying to get rich off the first few buyers.

Exactly my thoughts Spencer.

If it were a hundred bucks, it would be feasible for single use.

Too expensive!
Why doesn't one of us come up with a better solution or a cheaper simulation. I used " heatanhammer " brand
