Pretty Amazing Mileage!!A Bow Tie!!!

Postby Sunula66 » Sat Dec 19, 2015 12:19 pm

Check this out,
I purchased a new Chevy Cruze "Diesel" this past Nov. (for my birthday lol) my original quest was to find a used VW diesel and then later saw an ad for new diesel Jetta's for dirt cheap at the dealership in Edmonton. As my oil-patch job was lost in March I was forced to commute an hour and a half south of my home to a position hauling fuel and chems in a train unit now and commuting will be a couple times a week. I contacted a V dub dealer and was told that they were not allowed to sell any diesel cars by law, including down to 2013's  soooo,
I knew GM had started to produce the Cruze diesel 2 years ago and was always interested and it's a really well built car and a 5 Star safety rating! It was just too much doe reh mee for me :) ....When I discovered that they are claiming 5.1 litres per 100 kilometers or close to 58 mpg's I thought, it will help pay for itself a little and took one for a rip!....it get's better.....
The turbo 2.0 litre surprised me and all of the creature comforts of a Caddy, I was sold but I kept thinking there's no way for 28 grand
I found out more good news about the warranty with an 8 year on computer mods and components, 6 on the body, 5 overall, 2 years free maintenance for oil/filter and a top up of DEF ( it needs Diesel Exhaust Fluid ) about a cup every 4000 miles or so( you can put a tissue under the exhaust pipe and it stays white :!: )
2 yrs free loaner, and roadside, and a perk with On-Star and Sirius radio.
The best part is yet to come.....
G.M. would finance with nuttin down and the interest at 4.9 for me ( cuz I owe doh) cheaper and down to 1 or 2 % dependant on your finances...my payments are pretty cheep
Okay, here's the BEST part...
I drove this thing over 4000 kilometers already and when I took it to Calgary from here and back, I took Video of part of the drive and sent it to my dealership in Cold Lake Alberta, Lake City GM and itsa hit! So much so, that the GM Rep. is reviewing it!
There is a guage on the dash system that you can observe and has a "Score" for "fuel mileage" and the results are very amazing!! Ready?!!
4.3 litres/100kilometers!! to see the video, you need to go on Facebook to Lake City GM, that's Cold Lake Alberta Canada...and for you Tecky types, cuz I'm not Tecky savvy, trust me, eh Harry? :? maybe one of the members here could post it to this thread for all to enjoy.

The Bottom Line, really this is the bottom line  4.3 l/100kms is over 62 mpg and it cost 40 bucks to Calgary and home, about 12 hrs of highway and some city!

Excellent mileage! https://www.facebook.com/lakecitygm/vid ... 9/?theater

Just figured out my 97 Regal 3.8 is using ~15 L for 100 kms = 18 mpg

Got some new oh two sensors to put on, see if that helps.

I drove a rental Cruze once, I found the dash was eating my knee.

Good lord. I'm getting that out of my 4.7l V8 Grand Cherokee 4x4. When I drive it really nice the numbers get in the 20's but if I beat on it hello 16-17.

I just rented a '14 or '15 Chevy Impala LT for the trip out to OK.
800 miles all interstate one way at 80 mph. First leg I got 37 mpg.... 800 mile trip averaged 33 mpg. I was very impressed with that mileage in such a big car. Very nice ride.

Zeke, all of the 3.8 Buicks we had, without the supercharged version, got around 35 plus mpg I think the last LeSabre I got for my daughter got unreal mileage but the best one was the little maroon Regal that had a 3.1 V-6 and it was always around 38mpg! They're a nice car with lotsa creature comforts, dual climate control and nice leather interiors!
Dwight, those new Impala's are really nice too! They have good scamper as well as decent mileage and a buddy of mine has a new Chev pickup that's getting ridiculous mileage like 30-32 mpg's and I'm just learning out that this is pretty common  I think G.M. is owning up to it's obligations as far as providing quality and decent mileages on even their bigger vehicle lineups. The twin turbo Ford's are a real disappointment especially the trucks. Someone I worked with bought a new Ford pickup last year and I thought it was the be all of pickups because of the "Rancher" two-tone leather interior, very very nice, but he sure is pissed because they advertised an unbelievable 7-8l/100km because of this gutsy Eco-biturbo engine, he's on the band wagon with lots of other owners going after Ford for B.S. and so far, they keep re-setting the computer parameters to try to satisfy these ppl. Chrysler is the biggest loser and my friend's Dakota maybe gets 18-20 mpg's he's really ugly!
I've been paying attention to a lot of the advertisements and talking to the real owners, the T.V. ads are usually shut off and the lying and B.S. is somehow being allowed  Dodge trux is the biggest lyer and these Ford trux commercials are just down right annoying lies. Speak to real ppl if you guys are even considering upgrades. The car companies don't get penalized for false ads. I think G.M. has changed it's ways finally, just my observation....
P.S. on a recent work trip to Moose Jaw Saskatchewan this past week, I brought my Cruze in for it's first service at 6400 kilometers, oil/filter/check over etc. when I learned that this dealership also only sold two Diesel Cruze's as that's all they were allowed ( G.M. wasn't sure how well they would go over) the Service Manager learned of my Video and remarked that the one car was actually getting better mileage than mine as it was driven daily from Moose Jaw to Regina and return. Apperantly 4.0l/100km is totally possible and on my return home, 7and a half hours of driving one way, I got an average of 5.6 around 54mpg and into -20c light head wind most of the way and the speed up considerably at 70 mph , still not bad. V.W. eat your heart out 8)
