Aveo, fate similar to a monza??

Check out this frame rust-through in a critical suspension area. I believe if this completely gives way, the passenger side of the car drops down to the floor. Putting this in perspective, I got 10 years of use out of the car ('06), as of this year, and so far 157k miles. It was a $1 a mile to purchase. So a pretty average transportation deal overall.

And I live in the rust-belt... this is what we get for roads that need to be massively de-iced for almost half a year some years.

Just interesting to see the same old problem occurring so many years later. You'd think it would have been solved by now. I complained to the dealer when the car was new and under warranty about traces of rust in the area and they said...."if it wasn't rusted through" ... well there's your rust through now. But I'm passed the life expectancy of the car so I think I did ok, and it's holding on for now...

If it wasn't for this maybe I'd consider a future like this.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8wtWB2dBn4

Yeah could be fixed.. But... it's getting to a point with the car. Body is beginning to rust, has some dents here and there and many scratches. Pretty soon all the mechanicals will begin to need replacement. 10 years and 160k on all component's. exhaust has flex pipe bit's. If I can get 3 more decent years out of it, I'll be happy. driving paid-off is nice.

+ I'd rather invest in getting my brown sunbird to run around again.

A couple hrs with a friend that can weld would yield you those extra few years that you want.

You guys want to save an Aveo??? You really are Chevy Diehards!... :th: kidding aside. You make decent point's. Something I'll consider heading down the road. Overall it has been a decent little car for the cash, so maybe it'll get that second lease on life.

It swallowed 2 nice sized pieces of plywood this afternoon. It's a pretty handy little car with the rear seat totally removed. (I drive it like a 2 seater with a giant cargo area).

Well then, You just answered yourself...it would make a nice little "trailer" if made right and could be easily managed by the tow vehicle of the H-type :th:
LONG LIVE the AVEO!...trailer....
just tryin' to be helpful Marc! 8)

Thanks, there's a bunch at a year even closer to me, with cheaper prices. Ripe for the pickin while the gettin is good, however...mines to beat up externally to justify buying any goodies for it. Rather throw some cash at the white sunbird.

Might look for another aveo with a good body and blown motor.

I don't consider 2006 to be an old car or 157,000 to be alot of miles at all,

I would contact GM corporate ..go over the dealers head, this is unacceptable and unsafe... even if they spray roads, how could it rot so much in only 10 years??
