Thanks to people like your Sister Patrick with level headed thinking that diverted tragedy! We are all very highly trained and skilled up there and some more than others obviously and who dealt with the emergency in an extremely professional way that they're training was meant for.... and even the Firefighters and the Emergency crews lost everything to save another's...that's an emotion that doesn't even enter in...
God Bless Them!!!
The fires still burn below the surface and will for months..when product is moved and turned it gains oxygen and sometimes can and does sound like a fireplace and or barbecue that has had a bunch of fuel in it and then ignites with a swoosh! Bryan can tell us all about the characteristics of fire. These forestfloors are 3 feet deep of pine needles and cones and underbrush and were for years undisturbed and can now burn or smolder for months, so it's still a volatile place. We need the tankers offered by the other countries but for some stupid political grounds we denied our own people and the lives of the emergency personnel an opportunity to diminish some of the workload. I don't get it.....neither do they! There are Nation wide fundraisers this weekend and will be for months to come. Ft. Mac will be rebuilt and the lives of all of the affected residents have been changed..some leaving for ever and some anxiously waiting to return and helping with the cleanup. It's a Big Mess right now as Kevin tells me and nothing to see really..no gas available yet and the Hospital and other vital services as you can imagine sit in limbow...I'm not even sure if water or any sewage is moving yet..I know ATCO has been there for a week trying to repair and replace power transmission. It's still really beautiful weather there but the stark pics of the landscape looks unrecognizable...I can't believe what my eyes tell me..I'm big on the surrounding areas with it's pristine hills and forests..I can't even begin to imagine the animal population devastated...and it will be huge. There are many species, Bears, Cougar, Moose Elk, Caribou were starting their migration and I haven't heard a remote fart of an estimation of damage to the already small and stressed Caribou heard. This fire did more ecological damage than we'll ever know and the smoke was being monitored in Indiana and Atlanta!
The toxic clouds that would have emitted weren't even considered, we have lost many who breathed toxic substances burning from the Twin Towers explosion 911 and still other's suffer from inhalation trama and lung disease, another reason to evacuate the area immediately without proper breathing apparatus !..... Two people were killed as a result of trying to get away from this fire as well. They were involved in a horrific crash with a loaded logging truck and had somehow impacted with it and died. My heart dropped to learn of this and my prayers to the Family.
I'll try to watch closely but it's all up to Maw Nature now...the Humans will do what they need to in order to make that place habitable again but it's gonna take years...can't see much growing there either for a while, I know that a fertilizer compound is mixed in with the fire retardant when air dropped from the tankers flying over and releasing. This helps start the regrowth for the forest floors but a lot was just lake water...I was dowsed years ago by a bomber drop when putting out spot fires in Boston Bar on the number 1 after Jones log yard went up..Patrick you might remember that one..started by a spark from a passing train and one of it's wheels...
When it's that dry out any little ignition will work.the 3 element needed....ignition-fuel-oxygen..take one away to stop the risk...dry and hot weather are to blame as far as I'm hearing so far...this Monster was making it's own Weather..
it created massive clouds which produced 11 lightning strikes!!! people in the know have never seen such a phenominom and this fire set new records and became the Monster of all fires! Imagine a source of energy so huge it produced it's own weather!!! SCARY!!! ..the 11 lightning strikes caused more fire and was directed at itself mostly as I understand....
