I hope this is being posted in the correct section and I DO realize that there are S-10 forums where I can ask this question, however I really do not intend to join another forum and besides, the S10 has a connection with our H-bodies and some of you may be able to answer my dilemma. -- So, I picked up an 82 S10, for next to nothing, not running, poor interior, minor frame rust, perfect body panels, long bed, 4 speed, 2.8v6, sat for 8 years. We built one carburetor out of two and replaced a fuel pump and got her running, no knocking, one lifter tapping. I was inspecting the undercarraige in the front and noticed the Front Sway Bar (stabilizer bar) that spans the frame rails. I noticed an upward arc to the bar as opposed to our H-body bars which are straight across from where they mount. The arc was a symetricly shaped upward arc and showed no signs of having been pushed into that shape and the rubber mounts looked unmolested. I have looked for exploded diagrams of the 82 S10 front suspension that might show this arc to no avail. I stopped by a custom restoration shop (Burnyz) where they had a resto mod on an S10 frame and looked underneath and that bar was straight , not arched. The GM parts department was unable to shed any light on the subject as well. I drove the truck around the block a couple of times and the steering seems normal. Can anyone shed some light on this front 82 S10 sway bar? Is it supposed to be straight or arched upwards? Thanks in advance. Peace

Too bad I cut up my 83 2.8 5 speed long bed 2 years ago. I could have answered it then! Those carbs are baffling to me, I'm impressed you got one to behave.

should be straight, maybe someone tried to lift the front end with a floor jack under the sway bar.

Sounds like a bar off a later model S10 or Blazer, I have one like that I tried to put on my Vega but its too wide.

I think Smiley is dead on..correct. My buddy said the same thing. I'll order the entire bushing kit for it maybe ball joints and whole nine yards to get her driving like new. This one has the long bed and heavier rear spring setup. I have yet to find the time to remove the bedliner and look at the condition. Thanks for the replies yall....Peace
