World's First Portable Vega BBQ Smoker Grill

Postby 74_Vega_GT » Sat Aug 03, 2019 8:59 am

Since I am having trouble disposing of the shell of the parts Vega that we used, my Vega Guru and I were kicking around the idea of :
Cutting whats left of the car(mostly rear quarter) at the door post in half while leaving part of the roof covering the back seat. Removing the 4point rear end and replacing it with a trailer axle setup. Remove the glass from the hatchback and replacing it with louvers. Adding a heat shield full panel behind the rear seats. Replacing the spare tire area and gas tank area with a half barrel smoker. Hinge the quarter panel to remove ashes and stoke firewood. Use the spare tire as a table in front of the rear seats. Add the rear tail lights and bumper. Paint it to match the Frankenvega. Wild imagination huh? I think its doable. I need a new smoker grill anyhow.

I think that will attract a lot of positive attention at shows make sure your smoker can double as BBQ and you could have a great time with it. Harry

Hey Harry, good to see you're still here. If this gets built, it will definitely be able to cook. I looked around the web after I posted this and found that most Car-B-Que 's are using the front half of automobiles and some are using the entire automobile. I didnt find too many using the rear quarter half of a car. If I used the front half, which I kinda do have, including another dash and GT instrument cluster carrier, I would have to..... complete the frankenvega project first before starting. Peace

I check I every couple of days or sooner when I can, I am pushing to have more happening than talking about it. Am I succeeding? Well I'm making an effort, concentrating on the garage and contents as the car living in the driveway just isn't cutting it now. My Pipe Dream is a Monza camper trailer, so I would need complete trim and lights and... and 2 large buckets of $100 bills, body is nearly $4000 US doors more $$ Hatch $$ plexiglass for windows $$ well you see where this is going! Oh I need the Monza done to tow it and complete the package $$$$$$ Good Luck and keep us posted please. Damn you Dwight! [he posted a question about making an old Vega shell into a trailer and well down the dream tunnel I went] Harry
