I have a Pioneer SuperTuner II or III in my Vega . (hey, it was hi-tech in '82  ).

I will probably use something like this in my Monza. I don't want to modify the dash and really just need somthing with the aux. input jack for my IPod.

I found a Dual XC-4100 on E-bay (new) for $20.00 + $15.00 Shipping and I can use my I-Pod...all I need. CD's are obsolete. (but I have a case of Cassettes lying around.... )

Those red and blue buttons stand out alittle too much for me but the price is right. I'd put a factory looking radio back in it and hide a good one in the glove box or under the seat or something. If you only want to use the Ipod with it you won't be changing stations. Alot of stereos even have remote controls so turning the volume up wouldn't require you to reach into the glove box or under the seat.

Hey, I think those red and blue buttons would go quite nicely with a Mirage ;)

Red white blue and black, all the colors you need for the Mirage.

I got tired of looking for a decent in dash stereo solution that would:

- no dash cutting
- utilize a period correct Delco head (stock appearance was a must for me)
- 6+ cd changer
- ipod interface

So I decided to make a complete all in one stereo box for the back of the hatch. It holds, 4 Panasonic 6 x 9 speakers, Panasonic deck with remote control, 6 pack cd changer, ipod dock with AirClick remote. It sits at the very back almost completely under the solid part of the hatch and has a hold done strap to the screw on the rear panel.

I'm almost done I'll post pictures soon.

I've got that in the Sunbird. I used the cover plate behind the dash as a spacer so it looks like a stock install, then I used the stock knobs. I like it enough that I might put it in my Vega soon.

There is a company I saw at the Charlotte Auto Fair that takes stock radios and puts modern electrics in them. Uses hidden CD players and can provide I-Pod jacks.

Stock look - Modern sounds.

Expensive and I can't remember the name of the company right now!

I used a Kenwood EZ-500. It is a retro styled unit, that does not clash with the classic personality of our interiors. Hence, the big knobs, and plain colors.

I used a kustom made enclosure, because I put gauges where the old unit went.

If you're content with listening to cassettes instead of CD's, GM made a pretty nice unit, often found in 'Vettes of the 80-81 vintage. The largest selection of solutions for those among us who don't want to cut up their dash can be found at Custom Autosound: http://www.casmfg.com/
Anything designed to fit in a 75-81 Camaro (or the aforementioned 'Vette) will fit.

another idea instead of just being limited to cassetes is get xm or sirius radio

i have xm and the unit i have can be changed to different cars
i take it to work and put it in the equipment i'm running and in my car on the drive to and from work and use it in my garage

it has a fm transmiter built in all you have to do is plug it into your lighter plug and put the antena on your roof no permenent wiring
