75 monza gt horn button?

Postby duke 46 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 7:39 pm

Need some help putting the horn button back on and getting all to work? Took if off a wrecked 75 starfire gt a few years ago and thought I had all the parts but can't seem to get it back togeather correct or infact any way together? Its the nice 4 spoke type and almost looks like the 70's vet.
I can take some pictures of the parts and wheel if that would help? I have to be missing something but can't figure it out?
Hope someone can help? :?

Welcome to H-Body.org's board, Duke!!
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

Found the problem????????

Postby duke 46 » Fri Feb 22, 2008 7:35 pm

The small plastic rivets are gone and that's why I couldn't figure out how it went? Took a look at a 72 vett and then all was clear then!

Here is a picture of the wheel that was on the car. I guess it was a correct one and how the horn worked is beyond me? I don't remember the 3 plastic pieces at all? But need to put it back together right with the ribet's or replace the part. Little ty-wraps put it together and made it work. Just can't get them tight enough for it not to move?

Where can we find the right part (complete) ? Or what can be used that will be more stable?
Thanks
Duke

The first H-body I ever had was a 75 Starfire with a wheel like that. That's my favorite H-body wheel. Oh yeah, welcome abord.

I like that wheel alot.
I had one in my Vega for awhile, but with a Chevy horn cap.

The horn contacts are being reproduced.
They are the same as for the factory wood wheel on the Camaro, Chevelle, etc.
They also are the same thing as for a non telescoping Vette column.
Here's a link to one from Ecklers:

Here's a picture from years ago.

Thanks. That got us to what we needed to replace.

I have a dash like the one in the picture. I had bought it years ago to use in a hot rod but never did. I thought it was a Cosworth Vega I took it out of because of all the gauges it had but maybe not? Can you tell me something about it? I am thinking of selling it but it would be nice to know for sure what I am selling.
Thanks

Hey Duke,
Do you have any pictures of the dash you are referring to?

But I will have to clean the dust off of it???? Its in the upper deck of my shop. I will try to get to it in a day or so and cleaned up so I can take a picture of it. I saw it the other day and its in great shape and always dry. It has the wood-grain factory type on it. looks darker than in your picture. I guess yours might have a wood-grain kit? The only thing i guess it was missing would be the little knob off the clock if it ever came with one?
I will get it to you as soon as I can.

Pictures of dash

Postby duke 46 » Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:11 pm

Figured I had better do it today. Gosh it was dusty. When I took it out I took wiring harness with it.
My son ask why it would have all the gauges except the oil? And have a clock?
I didn't have a clue why GM would leave out oil and put a clock???? :?:

With an oil pressure guage you can tell if the pressure is low and shut the engine off before it blows up. With a clock instead of the oil guage you can tell what time of day it was when you blew the engine. I never understood that either. You'd think they would put in an oil guage instead of a clock. That's what a watch was for back then.

No Idea what year. :?:
I bought it for a street rod app but never used it.
There might be a stamp number somewhere on the back side but didn't see any thing at a quick look? Maybe someone might know that's also why I posted the picture.

There might be a better place to post it so more guys will see it and maybe know what I need to know?
