Replace HEI cap?

Postby Bowtie_Stoffe » Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:55 pm

Hi Guys!

I´m sitting on a GM Performance parts HEI distributor with a broken wireconnector in the cap. I´ve been searching on Jegs and Summit for a replacement cap for this specific model, but haven´t had any luck.

Is it possible to buy for example a MSD Streetfire HEI - cap and put it on the one that I have? I think that most of the HEI caps look pretty much alike?

The reason I´m asking is that there´s a significant difference in price between just a cap and a complete distributor.

If the above works: Are there any downsides to it?

Regards

You have the coil in cap type don't you? The caps should all be the same. I don't know that any one brand of cap is better than another. Some caps have brass terminals and some have aluminum but if you get a cap with brass it shouldn't matter what brand it is.

Yes I have the coil in the cap, so other brands should fit? - Sounds nice :) And Brass terminals is preferable - roger that.

Now I´m a much happier person :D

See the picture below on my distr. cap today.
